Hi! Yes we’re still here. Yes we’re still doing stuff. No I don’t feel the need to post it all online. But yes we’re still doing great.
Homesteading over the last few months has turned more into just living and the thought of documenting has become less of a thing I think to do.
For so long I followed the “proof of work” lifestyle and honestly it just got old. I started feeling guilty for sitting down and reading or writing when everyone else was posting what they were building at 4am. I started to not feel like keeping up and it’s been really freeing.
We got rid of our rabbits a few months ago and it has given us a lot of time and mental freedom back. We tried everything to get them to breed and it just wasn’t working anymore. We had them for 6 years and loved it when it was working. We still have egg layers. I just water glassed a ton of eggs and we still do the hog in the fall. We planted a small garden, carrots and green beans. And it feels less stressful to not worry about the rain barrel as much.
All of this to say is that you can slow down if you need. You can take up different hobbies if you want. Once you’re a homesteader you kind of always are because the knowledge you obtained will never go away.
This page hasn’t been active and will probably continue to be pretty slow but we are still here living a life we chose and have worked for. I’m still writing and even adding some homestead stuff to one of my characters which is pretty fun.
