We did the annual hog this weekend. It’s so amazing seeing every year how much more the girls are involved. We did 68 lbs of ground, a bunch of roasts and two sides of bacon. We ended the night with some of last year’s hog in a nice pork stew.

We also got to do something new today and dispatched a friend’s turkey. It’s just like a big chicken but we haven’t done chickens in a few years so it was relearning a bit. It makes me want to get chickens again for sure!

Book stuff may be taking over my life currently (if you’re interested in book stuff follow my author page E.L. Rae Writer!) but we’re still doing our homestead stuff over here.

We bred rabbits last month and got 3 kits from our new doe so rebred some of the others with a different buck. Hopefully we see some more babies in a few weeks.

This weekend is hog processing weekend (shout out to Family Farm Meats, LLC!) it’s one of our favorite weekends. Hubby and I (with the kids coming and helping with their favorite jobs) hang out in the garage all day working, talking and blasting music. And at the end of the day our freezers are full for another year!
