It’s official - your farmer is running for State Representative here in Minnesota’s House District 11B!!
I am thrilled to be running a campaign based around speaking up for small farms and businesses, on keeping our Minnesota environment the national wonder it is, and on standing up for the vulnerable and disenfranchised in our community. Our campaign says that these are not political positions; they are community values. I want to bring the people of this community together around these values: one team, one fight. ☝🏻

.Some winter handiwork is now available at the farm stand! I decided to try my hand at live-edge cutting and serving boards, and for my first foray, I’d say they turned out pretty darn great! Two already sold!! Yes, they were to my mother, thanks for asking, but I think she just has a scout’s eye for craftsmanship 😂😂😂.
Looking forward to a summer of farm stand livin’.

When this is all over

“When this is all over,” said the driftwood to the waves
“When this is all over,” said the sunshine to the shade
“When this is all over,” said the young man to his age
“When this is all over,” said the jailed to the cage
“When this is all over,” said the winter to the warmth
“When this is all over,” said the mother to the unborn
“When this is all over,” said the farmer to his wife
“We’ll plant enough for the neighbors too, for nothing’s ever over in this life.”
I keep hearing the phrase “When this is all over” and have used it occasionally myself. I do look forward to the get togethers and the travel and the hugs (if we can still do those). But when this is all over, I hope it’s not all over. I hope we keep the memory of how hard it was to not be able to say “see you soon” and mean it, or to know how we could do the next right thing when we couldn’t do it directly, or how precious the balance between doing nothing and doing everything is. When this is all over let’s remember that we are strong and we are vulnerable, and that humility will keep us from missing these lessons. .

Mose the Bull says:

“I’m TIRED, and I’m BORED, and I’m ANGRY, and I’m SCARED, and I’m FRUSTRATED and when will this END and my NETFLIX is down and the world is a TERRI- .........oh, corn, awesome...”
We’ve all been there in the past month, just charging through an empty pasture, or your house, or your studio apartment, just a ball of frustration and fear. But there are wonderful little surprises all around you, so remember that you are entitled to be frustrated and afraid, but leave some room for great things to find you too. .
So do yourself a solid, and look out for love ❤️.
And if you can’t find it right away, have a sensible portion of corn and try again.

The Hay Bale Sessions: April 10, 2020.
The dogs aren’t confused about why we’re home more. They aren’t cranky about us intruding on their privacy, and they aren’t taking advantage of our presence to beg or whine more. .
They sleep more easily in the sunspots on the floor. They burrow their heads into our chests wishing they could just get a little bit closer. They leave to wander and lie down in another room with the highest certainty that when they return, there we will be.
We have chosen these dogs as our companions for a reason, and days like these are the reason. The world spins faster, and we remember why we all live here in this home together.
Look out for love. ❤️
