Gofundme is now live, see bottom of post for the link! Denzil, who has been working on this farm for nearly 3 decades, needs our support. His home in Jamaica was severely damaged by hurricane Melissa (2nd photo). Instead of enjoying a well deserved break after months of hard work, he will be spending his time on rebuilding and storm recovery. We are collecting donations to help him cover the costs of fixing the damage to his home. We’re in the process of getting a gofundme set up for him/determining the cost of rebuilding; until then you can drop off cash or checks made out directly to Denzil Rankine at the farm stand. We also have a gofundme set up, see below. This farm runs on his effort and dedication, and we hope you’ll consider helping him out. Every donation helps!

It’s the home stretch of October 🍁 The farm stand will be staffed regular hours this week and through the weekend. Next week we will make the switch to self serve and stay open until Thanksgiving. I truly wish we could stay staffed until then, perhaps next year if we can figure out how to heat our store…

In the meantime the farm stand continues to be stocked with all kinds of fall produce (and strawberries!). As our season winds down we’ll be offering bulk roots, sweet potatoes and winter squash. This is a great way to save a little if you have the space to store them (we’re happy to answer questions about proper storage!). We’ll have some cases pre packed in the store next week, or you can dm to order. Carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, butternut, and more!

And of course with Halloween around the corner we have pumpkins to spare 🎃 All carving pumpkins are buy 1 get 1 free for the rest of the month, there are still plenty of nice ones out there!

The update we know you’re anxiously waiting for: the sweet corn (mostly) made it through the freeze last night! It’s some of the sweetest corn of the season, a real treat as we enter what now feels like true fall weather. We picked a few extra bags thinking we’d lose it all; dm if you need a few dozen ears to stash in the freezer!

Other autumnal delights at the farm stand this weekend:

🥦 Frost-sweetened broccoli and kale, IFYKYK
🥔 Potatoes + leeks, a dynamic duo begging you to make the namesake soup
🥰 Honeynut squash, hands down the cutest squash
🍓 the never-ending everbearing strawberries, will they ever stop??
🌼 All mums on sale: 2 for $24, 3+ for $10 each
🎃 Large carving pumpkins on sale: 2 for $20, 3+ for $8 each

Open Saturday + Sunday 10-5

Yeah it’s October but we’re still eating summery things from the farm stand! Tomatoes and peppers of all kinds are still with us, plus green and mixed beans, watermelon and sweet corn. We’re really savoring the last few harvests of these tender crops…it’s a bittersweet time of year but that’s what makes seasonal eating fun, it’s always changing ✨

Despite the drought, it was clearly a great year for pumpkins! We’ve got every shape and color: adorable mini gourds for tabletop decor, kid-sized pumpkins for painting, large jacks for carving and so many others. All the mums are in bloom too, and the farm stand is full of fall produce. We’re open all week: 11-6 Tues-Fri, 10-5 Sat + Sun

So…when does the farm stand close? We’ll stay open until the week before thanksgiving. Hours will be slightly reduced week after next as it gets darker earlier, 12-5 weekdays and 11-5 weekends. This is the longest we’ve stayed fully staffed into the fall and that feels like a huge milestone for our little store! Thanks to and Addy for keeping the farm stand ticking, and to you all for the support 🧡

Here’s proof that we are, in fact, growing those beautiful, shiny strawberries you see at the farm stand 🍓Until a hard freeze, we’ll be harvesting some of the sweetest berries of the season— we’ve even picked them into November in warm years!

The plants are protected by low tunnels (essentially mini greenhouses) in the field that keep the plants warm and dry. We grow a relatively small amount of these fall berries so they aren’t available for u pick, but you can count on them being available at the farm stand for a while! Plus

So much gratitude is due to our crew members Denzil, Calvin and Prince who have been picking strawberries for our farm stand and our wholesale customers all summer long. We would not have these berries without them!

Bibbity boppity boo! Specialty pumpkins have arrived! We’ve been channeling our inner fairy godmother and sprinkling them all over the farm stand✨✨ So many fun shapes and colors this year, but our new favorite is the dino gourd, see last pic. Loads of big jack-o’-lanterns too…. It’s fall magic time people! 🎃🎃🎃Open Tuesday-Friday 11-6, Saturday +Sunday 10-5

Winter squash is what we’re really excited about this weekend…we’ve got the classics, fun heirlooms and some that are too pretty to eat! Our rainy weekend advice: get the oven cranking and make some cozy squash soup with some sourdough!

Jack o lanterns! What—too soon? The kiddos are ready for pumpkin time and it’s a big harvest out there 🎃 There will be plenty of jacks when the time comes…and we’ll have tons (literally) of fun setting them all up in the next few weeks!

Labor Day weekend, the defining line between summer and fall 🍂 The seasonal shift and back to school change has us feeling a little out of sorts, but much remains the same at the farm; summer produce continues to pour in, and now harvests of storage crops have begun! The fall firsts: First delicata from the field, scarlet red mums cracking open, a greenhouse full of cured onions, fall perennials in bloom…The abundance waits for no one!

Nothing quite like mid August at the farm…The harvests never end and every cooler on the farm is bursting at the seams, ahhh! See below for a few particularly delicious things to grab at the farm stand this weekend👇

🌽 Epic sweet corn! Nothing beats the simplicity of boiled sweet corn with lots of butter, but we’re loving it as elotes, in fritters, and off the cob fresh in salads. If you’re feeling ambitious we have bags of 4 dozen available.

🍉 Watermelon and cantaloupe! We harvest them when they’re perfectly ripe, no guessing required. Perhaps the only upside of a summer drought is the concentrated fruit flavors, these are some very intense melons folks

🫑 All the peppers…sweet bell peppers, spicy fruity habaneros, and everything in between! Current favorites are poblano and anaheim peppers, roasted over a flame and added to fresh salsa. We’ve got all the makings for some amazing pico de gallo, by the way

🍑 NY peaches this week are gorgeous, huge, and run-down-your-arm juicy. Freestone varieties for easy prepping. A few remaining NY peach crates available for pick up this weekend, $75/25lb, including $6 crate deposit. DM to reserve your crate of pure summer joy
