Then Friday afternoon, fresh sourdough arrives just in time for the weekend.

Meet Queen Anne.

Queen Anne is one of our Grey Australorp hens, and she has appointed herself supervisor of just about everything that happens at Tulip Creek.

She’s curious, follows us around the farm, and usually needs to know exactly what we’re doing.

So we thought she might be the perfect hen to help us tell you a little more about what makes Tulip Creek eggs different.

Our hens have access to pasture where they can scratch, forage, eat grasses, clover, bugs and whatever else catches their attention.

But pasture is only part of the story.

We also feed our flock New Country Organics corn-free layer feed. It’s a high-quality, complete ration that we chose because what goes into our hens matters to us just as much as how they’re raised.

Pasture. Quality feed. Fresh water. Vegetables from the farm. Plenty of room to scratch, explore and act like chickens.

Over the next few weeks, Queen Anne is going to help us show you more about how we raise our flock, what we feed them, why yolk color changes throughout the year, and what “pasture-raised” actually looks like at Tulip Creek.

Assuming, of course, that we can keep her out of the camera long enough to get anything done.

Meet Kol and DJ — two of the guys helping keep Tulip Creek growing.

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before anything makes it into our farm market. Planting, cultivating, harvesting, fixing equipment, fighting weeds and occasionally convincing an old Farmall Cub to cooperate.

Kol and DJ have been putting in the work, and we thought they deserved a little Sunday spotlight.

While they keep things moving in the fields, the farm market is stocked and ready for your Sunday visit.
