June 19th, 1865.
On this day, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free. More than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the truth arrived: freedom was real.
Juneteenth honors that moment. It honors the courage, resilience, and dignity of those who fought for it— and those who carried that legacy forward.
Today, we celebrate them. We celebrate their families. We celebrate the communities built on the foundation of that freedom. And we recommit to a world where freedom and dignity belong to everyone. 🖤
