About this time every year, I’m usually deep in preparation for the Barton County Fair. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to get ready for an event like this!

But this year looks a little different.

With the marriage of our daughter last weekend, I decided doing the fair this year just wasn’t feasible—and that’s okay. Some seasons look different, and this one is about slowing down and soaking in the moments.

We’re excited that we’ll still get to participate in Celebrity Showmanship… and how fitting for a BBQ business! 🍖🔥🐷🐖

This year, instead of working behind the scenes, we’re going to enjoy the fair through a different lens—📸making memories, cheering, and spending time with our grandchildren. 🎡🎠🎢

Life moves fast, and sometimes stepping back allows you to enjoy the moments you usually miss. See you next year!! ❤️

Yesterday we got to experience what it feels like to truly be part of such a beautiful day. 🥰 Usually, we’re the ones behind the scenes—preparing food, making sure everything is perfect, and helping create memories for others at weddings. This time, we got to slow down, soak it all in, and experience the joy, excitement, happy tears, and unforgettable moments for ourselves. ❤️

Now I understand in a whole new way the emotions and memories that come with watching your child begin this next chapter.

We are so incredibly proud and want to congratulate our daughter and her husband on their marriage! Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, adventure, and always choosing each other through every season of life. 🤍💍

Today I prepared meat for a young man whose life was taken far too soon. As I was checking the meat and looked at the foil, I noticed something I’ve never seen in all my years of smoking meat… what looked like a hand. 🤚
Maybe coincidence, maybe comfort… but in that moment I felt a presence and a reminder that love leaves its mark in ways we don’t always understand. Thinking of his family and praying for peace and strength. ❤️

A new month is here, and we’re stepping into it with a fresh start! ✨

Jen’s page along with our mini pancake business page got disabled 😔 so we’ll now be sharing everything right here on our BBQ page moving forward. One page, all the food, all the updates, and all the love we put into what we do. 💛

June is already shaping up to be a big one—weddings to cater 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️, luncheons 🍽️, our mini pancake stand making a special appearance for a quinceañera 👑🥞, time with our grandbabies 👶❤️ while our daughter heads off on her honeymoon to Jamaica 🌴✈️, and the food trailer rolling out later this month 🚚🔥

We’ll also be missing 😢 the Barton County Fair this year as we celebrate her wedding and this new chapter for her 💍 tough decision but my plate is a tad full! 🤪

We will post our schedule towards the end of the month so everyone knows where we’ll be 📅 We also have some open dates at the end of the month if you’re looking for a breakfast or luncheon service 🍳🥪

A full plate, a full heart, and we’re grateful for every bit of it. 🙏💛 See you all soon!!

Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most. ❤️

While I was out in the garage BBQing, a sweet gentleman who always does his little drive-bys stopped in the driveway and asked, “Do you know how to make rhubarb pie?”

I laughed and told him, “I don’t… but I sure can try!” 🤣

He went on to tell me it had been about 10 years since he’d had one because his wife wasn’t really able to make them anymore. Then he said, “I’ve got the rhubarb!”

I told him, “Perfect — bring it to me!” And sure enough, he did!! 🌱🥧

After squeezing some time in, I was finally able to make him a rhubarb pie and fulfill a little wish that meant a whole lot more than just dessert. ❤️ Sometimes food isn’t just food — it’s memories, comfort, and love all wrapped into one pie.
