Our peak season varieties:

•Honeycrisp - crisp, juicy, sweet‑tart; all‑purpose favorite and top seller nationwide.

•Kindercrisp – super‑crisp, sweet, kid‑friendly; Honeycrisp descendant with big flavor in a small apple.

•Macoun – rich, aromatic, sweet‑tart; Macintosh‑family apple great for fresh eating and softer‑style baking.

•Sweet 16 – sweet, cherry‑like flavor; modern variety with standout aromatics.

•Cortland – tender, juicy, slow to brown; Macintosh‑derived heirloom‑style apple perfect for salads and baking, pink sauce if skins are left on.

•Liberty – crisp, mildly tart, balanced flavor; cooks to a pink sauce if the skins are left on.

•Red Baron – firm, sweet‑tart, bright red; flavor similar to Honeycrisp with great crunch.

•Freedom – mild, sweet, easy‑eating; Macintosh‑family apple great for sauce and baking.

•Red Regent – crisp, sweet, balanced; Wisconsin favorite with heirloom‑style flavor and great storage.

•Triumph – crisp, juicy, sweet‑tart; Honeycrisp descendant with excellent crunch and flavor.

We’re now carrying handcrafted goat milk soaps & lotions from local vendor Judy Doro and Christmas Creek Creations!

And of course, we’ll have all your orchard favorites this weekend:

We’ll be at the Rusk County Farmers Market Saturday 8/29 (8:30–noon) and at the Orchard (8:00-noon) with Zestar, Prairie Magic, and State Fair apples, along with c***r pressed earlier this week and our dried apple chips. Come stock up for the weekend!

Early season apples are ready at New Dawn Orchard! Right now, we're picking Dandee Red, State Fair, Beacon, Zestar, and Prairie Magic — grown naturally, with zero synthetic inputs.

Open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8am–12pm.

Dandee Red — Firm, white flesh with a tart-sweet flavor similar to a McIntosh but noticeably firmer, plus good disease resistance. Great all-around apple: fresh eating, sauce, pies, and baking.

State Fair — Fine-grained, crisp, tender, juicy flesh with a balanced subacid flavor (sweet with pleasant tartness). Known for excellent all-around culinary quality — good for both fresh eating and cooking — and it holds up in storage better than most other summer apples.

Beacon — Bred at the University of Minnesota (a Wealthy x Malinda cross). Medium-sized fruit with deep red stripes and juicy, fairly soft flesh, mildly sweet in flavor. Good fresh-eating apple that also cooks and bakes well, and makes a naturally pink-tinted applesauce.

Zestar! — Crisp and juicy with a sprightly sweet-tart flavor and a hint of brown sugar. Best known as a fresh-eating apple — it holds its crunch and flavor in the fridge for up to two months, so it's a great one for snacking and lunchboxes.

Prairie Magic — Sweet, crisp texture that eats like a dessert apple. Very versatile — excellent fresh, but also holds up well in baking and cooking, presses nicely for juice, and keeps in cold storage for 2–3 months.
