Last month, I met Azure, through a friend and teammate, Mary, who was trying to help her friend, and my heart broke.
At the start of the year, Azure’s mom, Sally was caught in a fire in her house. They are still not sure what started the fire, but they know it started in the kitchen. Sally was trapped on the 2nd floor of the building, in her bedroom and was the last one to be removed from the house. She was found unconscious, had to get CPR and was then transferred to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Burn Center where she had to be intubated and sedated due to her critical condition. Because of history of asthma, COPD and heart disease she was sick before the fire and so now, is looking at weeks in the hospital and rehab.
At this point, they are taking it day by day by Sally is showing signs of improvement, and so that is giving the family hope.
The fire marshal told Azure that because of the fire and smoke damage, most of the items in Sally’s room are unrecoverable and so Azure is now working on raising funds to help her mom start over (clothing, furniture, health and beauty items) when she recovers and discharged from the hospital, at to help pay medical bills.
Since hearing the story, the family has been on my mind, as well as the minds of my teammates and friends. We all know that every penny counts, so we wanted to help.
We started a fundraiser to help Azure and Sally. Please help us support these ladies and grab a Weeknight Dinner fundraising kit for $25. Sally and Azure will get 40% of this (If you are local, I’ll deliver it to you and if you are far away, I can mail it to you for an additional $7.
