They say variety is the spice of life. If so, Mr Tee's fleece is extra spicy. This piebald black badger doesn't have a color gradient going, he has big patches of color, some black, gray, almost white. Each of these color patches seems to be a slightly different texture, from very crimpy black, to more open white. Unfortunately, there is an inconsistent break in his fleece. While these shorter fibers are more difficult to spin, they felt like a dream. Coated so minimal VM. 1 lb 10 oz, 2.5-4" staple. $15 plus shipping from 64040.

E302-26 is a beautiful black badger Finnsheep fleece. She was coated, so there is minimal VM. Unfortunately, there is a break in her fleece about halfway along the staple. While this might be a challenge for a spinner, it is perfect for wet felting. Finn felts easily, and with shorter fibers, it felts very quickly. 1 lb 8 oz, 4" staple. $18 plus shipping from 64040.

Finnsheep wool. I have a couple of bags of nice, usable wool, that was rescued from fleeces that had major issues (felting, serious VM, etc). Crimpy, soft, minimal VM. Staple length 4-5 ". Mix of white, grays, black, brown. Selling as grab bag, no color sorting, $15/lb. Great way to experience Finnsheep wool without committing to a whole fleece. 🚨ANIMAL HEALTH ALERT🚨
USDA APHIS confirmed classical scrapie in a sheep slaughtered in a facility in Oregon.

APHIS and state animal health officials recently initiated an investigation to determine the flock of origin. The affected animal did not have an ear tag. This case is a reminder of why tagging compliance and surveillance participation are critical to safeguarding flocks nationwide.

Shearing went perfectly today here on Spinning Sheep Fiber Farm. Mother Nature gave us warm sun and no rain. Brian Dreffs of Dreffs Family Farm, along with his son, did an outstanding job on our 47 Finnsheep. The volunteer crew brought many hands, as well as their happy spirits. There were rotating wranglers who moved the sheep seamlessly from barn to shearing board and back. The amazing fleece skirting team made sure all the icky bits were off the fleeces before rolling them up and labeling them, making it so much easier to do the heavy skirting later. And they brought tasty baked goods to keep us all energized! Thanks for the pictures, Patti Combs . I didn't manage to take any. So thanks to all who came out!
