Nielsen Show Pigs Making memories one pig at a time. www.nielsenshowpigs.com Kirk and his dad, Lonney, started raising pigs in 2002 when Kirk was 15.

He was very active in 4-H growing up, showing pigs, cattle, and sheep; this experience, and Lonney's experience of raising pigs most of his life (at the peak of his production he had over 100 sows), led them to start the venture of raising show pigs. We started with 6 gilts and had 32 pigs on our first sale. During the first few sales, Kirk was still showing pigs. Our philosophy was, and continues

to be, to sell the best and let our customers win for us. Over the last 18 years, we have had success in multiple states at the county fair and state fair level. We generally breed 15-20 sows/gilts per season. We currently have Crossbreds and Berkshires. We are always striving to improve our herd; if you have any inquiries about future projects for your family, please let us know how we can be of service.

This podna sow just raised the reserve champion market gilt at the Nebraska state fair 2025 for Mason Janda. She is the mother of Rooster and Maverick for Jack Jacobs from the prior two years that won a lot and hung banners at the state fair. If you want a legitimate contender look here.

The mother of the 18’s is affectionately called the Podna sow around here.
Her pigs of won on some of the biggest stages for us and done so with some unique individuals.

Last year she raised the Reserve Market gilt at the Nebraska state fair for Mason Janda.

Her litter this time is sired by On the Prowl at premium blend genetics. They are green in there muscle pattern but still built so correct.
