Shady Side Farm Shady Side Farm is a small, family-owned farm in West Michigan. Freezer lamb and beef are available for purchase in the summer and fall.

Tillage is a dirty word to some people. But we view tillage as a way to return carbon to the soil. Instead of baling and selling our einkorn and spelt straw, we return it to the soil.

These grain fields will be planted to pasture next, and once that happens, we won’t till them again for 5-7 years.

Managed, intentional tillage can be a good thing.
