This month marks 7 years since I had the delusional idea to get in the kitchen, and bake a cake for Cree & Ciah's birthdays. I remember it like yesterday, my first time EVER making buttercream frosting. Stacking and decorating that Gid awful mermaid cake (that we actually up using for my sisters bday cake) If you would have told me then, that baking and decorating cakes and cookies would become my real full time job, I would have laughed right in your face.
But somehow, we got here.
Right before a global pandemic and before the world shut down, I took a leave of absence from my job to grow Slicks Sweets and see if it was really what I wanted to do. And I am so beyond grateful for the opportunities and the people that Slicks Sweets has brought into my life.
I've learned so much through the years. Personally and professionally. We have had some high highs, and low lows. Since I have started this crazy business we have added 2 babies into our family and I have been fortunate enough to work from home and provide for my family, while raising my babies and not missing a beat. There have been some challenges to being a mama and running a business from home. It wasn't always easy. As this point, I couldn't imagine doing anything else. But truth be told, I am not sure what the future holds for Slicks Sweets. As much as I hate to admit it, it is freaking slow and I am starting to worry. Those times where I was booked out for months, seems unattainable now. For the past 7ish years I have found so much joy in creating beautifully decorated cookies and cakes with you all, and I am not ready for it to end.
So as we celebrate our anniversary this month, I pray we are able to celebrate many more. Friends, If you have made it this far (you must care lol), a like, a comment, a share, a referral or an order, would mean SO much to me! Thank you, and cheers to 7 years of being covered in flour and sugar.
