If you’ve been waiting for some fresh sweet corn to eat now or to freeze for later, we will have most of our first planting ready between now and Friday. It looks like Friday maybe wet, so please plan ahead. After that we will probably have a little break before the next planting is ready.

$6/dozen or $5/dozen if your getting 2 dozen or more at the same time. For larger orders please let us know what you want and we will keep it up by the house. We may also be able to deliver larger orders nearby. Thanks!

We finished planting the last of the sweet corn yesterday. You can start to see the tassle wrapped up in the first planting of the year. The recent rain has it looking pretty good!

Spring will hopefully be here soon, so we can get some sweet corn planted!

In Wisconsin, the phrase “side of the road” is less of a location and more of a quality certification. You are not just buying corn, you are entering into a handshake agreement with someone’s uncle who has been growing it since before you were born and does not believe in weak corn.

There is no branding, no website, and absolutely no receipt. Just a folding chair, a handwritten sign, and a cooler that may or may not contain exact change. The farmer will casually say “picked this morning” in a tone that suggests any corn not picked within the last six hours should be considered suspicious at best.

Grocery store corn exists, sure, but it has never made eye contact with you while you selected it. Roadside corn has personality. It has history. It has been judged silently by the person selling it the moment you reached for the wrong ear.

You drive away with a dozen ears, feeling like you just unlocked a secret level of Midwestern life. By the time you get home, you are already planning your next trip, because deep down you know the truth. The best corn is not advertised. It is discovered, usually right after you say, “Should we stop?” and everyone in the car immediately says yes.
