Mele Garlic Farms offers several varieties of fresh and processed garlic. Varieties include; GERMAN WHITE- Our most popular hardneck garlic. Large cloves and easy to peel. A very pungent garlic, mellows when cooked, nutty flavor when roasted. Stores well and is an all-purpose garlic. MARENGO- A softneck Spanish garlic. Fairly large cloves, good in salsa and stores well, moderate-hot (heat). ITALIA
N SOFTNECK- Small cloves, a favorite in Mediterranean cooking. Use raw, finely minced or to top any Italian dish, medium (heat). MUSIC- A hardneck garlic, large cloves, usually has just 4 cloves per head, good for both cooking and roasting. Stores well, flavorful, medium (heat). HUNGARIAN PURPLE STRIPE- Small cloves, moderate-hot (heat). FRENCH SOFTNECK- Several small cloves per head, flavorful, mild-moderate (heat). METCHITI- A hardneck garlic, fairly large cloves, very hot (heat). ELEPHANT GARLIC- This is not a true garlic, it is a leek. Called the sweet garlic. Very mild flavor, great for roasting, stores well. TURKISH RED- A hardneck garlic, purple stripe, large cloves, stores well, very spicy (heat). SHALLOTS- Onions, chives, garlic and shallots are all in the same family. Shallots are among the mildest tasting alliums. Shallots usually have 2-4 cloves per bulb. Use them in place of onions in just about any recipe. They can also stand alone as a roasted vegetable. Shallots have a long shelf life if kept cool and dry, they should last almost a full year. We grow three types of shallots- FRENCH, DUTCH YELLOW and FROG LEGS. We also sell garlic powder and garlic nuggets. We also offer rope netting, available in 300 ft. Rolls.
