Most every Spring we purchase new chicks to add to our flock and it is fun deciding what breed to get. Usually when we get them we get sexed chicks so we can be more confident that we are getting hens. This year as we were driving away from picking them up, we both agreed that it wouldn’t be terrible if we got a roo in this batch. A couple of weeks in we noticed one growing faster than the others, sure enough we got ourselves a roo. Our last roo died a little a year ago, so our girls have been without a protector and a peace keeper since then. They do okay without a roo but we’ve noticed that when there is a roo the girls seem to be nicer to each other with less picking on each other. We’ve been searching for a good name for this guy, he is going to be a big boy so we’ve been picking him up to help him not be aggressive towards us. So everyone meet Moses. The new leader of our flock of chickens. 🐔 Also, we have lots of eggs available and would be happy to put out a fresh dozen for you to pick up at your convenience, just send me a message and I would be happy to do that for you.
