Holmdel's Bayonet Farm is a public park owned and operated by Holmdel Township. The park is open from dawn to dusk seven days a week.

ATTENTION: On SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24th from 2 PM - 5:30 PM - the Holmdel Township Recreation Department will be holding an event at Bayonet Farm. The park will be closed to anyone who is not registered for the event during that time. Thank you for your understanding.

Holmdel Township Recreation Department invites you to join our Yoga at the Farm Program. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, social distance and exercise at the same time! You have the choice of AM (8am-9am) or PM (6:45-7:45pm). Register at https://register.communitypass.net/holmdel or call the Recreation Dept at 732-946-2820 ext. 1225 (M-F, 8:30-4:30pm)

Shake off the winter blues and get out at Bayonet Farm and enjoy a hike through the property. This is presented by Holmdel Recreation and Friends of Holmdel Open Space. This is a free event and registration is not required.

Due to the weather forecast of high wind, heavy rain and cool weather for the weekend, Harvest Fest is CANCELED for this year. Unfortunately we are not able to re-schedule to a different weekend this year due to events already booked at the site. We appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm for this event. We are as disappointed as everyone that we the weather has forced us to cancel. We will see you in 2016!

Holmdel Township Bayonet Farm Park

Farm Functions

Throughout its existence, the Bayonet Farm residence has maintained its function as the homestead for a working agricultural farm while undergoing a physical evolution that transformed it from a humble farmhouse to a country estate. The main Bayonet Farm residence was built in the early 19th century when James McGee purchased the farm. Part of the house dates back to over 200 years ago and land titles go back to the original patent of 1677.

Purchasing the Farm

In 1936, Laura Harding bought the farm with approximately 60 acres of land. Miss Harding was born in Philadelphia and raised in Rumson. She had a brief career on the stage with the Berkshire Playhouse and the Theater Guild. She became close friends with Katherine Hepburn, who visited her often in Holmdel. She had a distinguished career of social service with MCOSS and served on the board of Riverview Hospital. She was active in efforts to preserve the rural aspect of Holmdel and was instrumental in Holmdel's acquisition of Cross Farm.
