Currently experiencing the loud after the storm around the farm yard. The calves have been weaned and worked again to catch anybody that was born late on the summer pasture, so they arent happy campers. The cows have been pregnancy checked and worked to make sure everyone starts the new year on the right hoof. The cows dont seem to mind weaning as much as the calves do, but we make sure to keep a couple tame older critters in with the calves to show them the ropes, and that growing up isnt so scary. We have to wean the calves because our cows will not, and the last thing our cows need is a yearling competing with a newborn for milk.

An “oopsie” calf that was born in the cold. Her momma didnt have enough milk to keep her going, so we relocated the calf to the barn to keep her warm, fed, and dry. To keep her warm the first night, we donated her a jacket.

The waterfowl dont mind the cold, they just wish their pond was thawed…
