Great great read!

Know what you’re buying! This picture has home raised beef(left), and home raised beef(right). That’s right! They both are from animals who were born right here on our ranch. Fed by us. Transported to be harvested by us. There is an obvious visible difference between the two. But why?

The first thing you may notice in the picture is the color difference. Although both of these were born and fed the same, they were harvested at two different facilities. Each facility with their own similar, but different process. The way the ground beef is mixed, it’s lean to fat content, and its packaging are just a few factors that determine the pigmentation of the meat. Nevertheless, each is delicious, nutritious, and most importantly SAFE!

But how would this compare to beef you could buy in a grocery store? The fresh meat products in the grocery store are essentially the same as those marketed direct-to-consumer.  Although we do sell beef raised on our ranch direct-to-consumers, most of the beef we produce will end up in grocery stores, restaurants, or even be shipped overseas. Our beef that goes to these other places is just as SAFE, NUTRITIOUS, and DELICIOUS as our beef that goes right into our customers freezers. Just like all of our friends and neighbors who raise beef that will also be marketed to consumers at a grocery store. USDA/FSIS have inspected all of the meat and deemed it safe!

Not every rancher has the means to market their beef direct-to-consumers. Not all consumers have the ability to buy beef direct from a rancher, or don’t want large quantities. And that is all fine!

So here is your reminder that the beef at the grocery store is just as safe and nutritious as beef that you purchase directly from a farmer or rancher. We just want you to eat beef and trust that ranchers are doing the very best we can to raise safe food, take the absolute best care of our animals, protect the wildlife, and preserve the environment.

The more you know!
