God bless farmers.

Early this morning Dettmann Dairy Farms, friends and neighboring farm had a fire just before milking time in their milking parlor.
Suddenly 500 cows needed a new temporary home as quickly as possible. A few phone calls went out and soon the rumble of diesel pickups warming up could be heard across the county.
I pulled in as the fire trucks were pulling out and joined the line of trucks and trailers already waiting.
With some tears and even some laughter, less than 12 hours after the fire started all the cows had calmy and quietly been loaded on to the endless line of trucks and trailers and were settled in new temporary homes.
Meanwhile friends and neighbors dropped by with food and drinks and gallons of coffee. The spread of food in the shop could feed an army and then some.
This family will rebuild, no one was hurt and no cows were lost. Which at the end of the day is what matters most.
I may be biased but I don't know of another community that is not only as caring, but is also as capable as the farming community.
