One more thing I’ve decided to start making from scratch. 🤎 Homemade fruit syrups for my Lotus drinks, and I might never go back to store bought! 🍓🍍✨

My little miracle babies. 🥹🤎

After such a heartbreaking hatch, seeing these little ones make their way into the world feels extra special. Holding onto hope that a few more little miracles will join us. 🐣🤞🏼

I don’t think I’ll ever stop being grateful for this chapter of life. 🤎

There was a time I dreamed for the things I get to wake up to every day now. A home, land for our animals to roam, my babies growing up surrounded by nature, and a slower, simpler life.

It’s not always easy, and there’s always something that needs to be done, but I genuinely love the little life we’re building. The older I get, the more I realize these are the things that truly matter.

Feeling really blessed to be right where I am. 🌾🤍

The ugly side of homesteading. 🤎🐣

Not every part of raising silkies and chicks is sunshine and fluffy babies.

Today was supposed to be hatch day, and out of five incubators full of eggs, we only had around 8 babies develop. We’re used to having nearly a 100% hatch rate, so this one really hurts.

Unfortunately, that 24-hour power outage we had during the big storm took a toll on our developing babies and completely devastated this hatch.

It’s heartbreaking knowing how much time, care, and excitement goes into every hatch, only for something completely out of our control to change everything.

And thank goodness we now have a working generator! We thought we were prepared and had one ready to go, until we actually needed it and it wouldn’t stay running. 🥲 Thanks to hubby, we finally have a reliable one, so hopefully we’ll never have to experience a loss like this again.

Homesteading comes with so many beautiful moments, but there’s also loss, disappointment, and hard lessons along the way.

I think it’s important to share the ugly parts too, because this lifestyle isn’t always sunshine and happy endings. 🤎

A little homemade goodness from our kitchen today. 🍎🤎

Put our new Ninja foodie blender to work making fresh apple juice, banana pudding ice cream, and chocolate banana mousse! The kiddos absolutely LOVED the apple juice, even if it did take forever to make. 😂

I’ve been loving learning to make more things from scratch and finding new ways to use what we have. More apple goodies coming tomorrow! 🍂
