Hi Tinker Farmstead friends,
In one way or another summer can be a challenging time for everyone. On our South Florida farm, the rampant weather, bugs and weeds overwhelm us all, including our chickens who, exposed to the brunt of the heat, rain and mosquitoes practically cease their production of eggs. But the misty mornings and cooler days of Fall are right around the corner and we are busy in anticipation of the next season.
Among other developments (check our website) we are excited to announce that we are finally switching our egg-laying flocks onto certified organic non-gmo project verified soy free feed!
All of our animals have been and will always be pasture raised, but they all receive supplemental feed of one kind or another. While the feed we have used to encourage our hens to forage has always been high quality - rich in omega 3 fatty acids and calcium from oyster shells etc etc - we have always felt it a compromise compared to the dream feed we could never afford.
Now, however, thanks to our experience, some shrewd business planning and you forward-thinking folks for patronizing us and investing in the future of food we can finally offer a genuinely superior product, totally unique to the area*.
So while our eggs will still be the same great colors, this upgrade in the supplemental feed supply will mean even healthier, cleaner, greener and socially conscious eggs! And whats more, while the new feed is almost twice the price, our prices will remain about the same:
1 doz Chicken eggs $8
1 doz Duck eggs $10
Deliveries should resume fully by the first week of October. Let us know if you'd like to be added to the new season list by email at [email protected]. Please note that we still ask for an additional $1 per dozen for delivery on orders under 10 dozen.

To save you some money and us some time we are currently looking for friendly, outgoing folks who embody our excellent customer service to act as hosts for bi-weekly pick up locations throughout Miami-Dade. If you're interested in working with us, turning over your home for a few hours to your community and finding out whats in it for you, drop us a line.
Want to get your hands dirty and live for free? We're offering accommodation and an evening meal in exchange for 4 hours a day work. As summer wains and the season starts the temperature drops off and the work load picks up and we always need help. No contracts or commitments necessary. Serious applicants only please.
*While many stores stock organic eggs, and many farms pasture raise their birds we are unaware of anyone else offering or producing legitimately organic, truly pastured eggs.
