Me and Nikki were able to get all the drip line down on all of the baby veggies today and w**d out a part of the green beans. Will have to drive back later to go and get out the sprinkler for the back to start on that watering! Onto canning for market tomorrow at Bulverde market day.

We have cordially been invited to participate in the 30th annual Holiday Ole Market put on by the Junior League of San Antonio October 22nd, 23rd, 24th & 25th at Shrine Auditorium! 75+ booths set up in professional drape fashion - one event to get all your holiday shopping done! ***Lettuce is up - I repeat - lettuce is up!*** Fortunate to have it come up so early this year! About 80% of everything else came up too with the rain including: all the radishes, lettuces, kales, cabbages, broccolis, collards, and arugula to name a few. Still waiting on carrot and turnip. Definitely have to start water on Friday as the top layer is forming a crust - but for now still deep water in the soil. Green beans started blooming! But still waiting on blooms of the okra. Time to spray fish emulsion to get it going.

My last electric canner stopped working so we upgraded to this beauty! Been lately heating up the house from stove processing but now this helps keep it cool and fits 16 pints at a time (I’m assuming 32 jelly jars). I think I’m in love with this machine - except for the part where I have to get up on a step stool - but might find out a way or place to not use one. Has a feature where you can open a pour spout and let the hot water out. Excellent and fast to heat after reloading jars!
Can also use for making hot water, melting chocolate, or according to the directions - cooking 33 quarts of pasta. 😂
Ready for Fall/Winter preserving and orders for the holidays!

When you really really needed cranberries for your event - HEB showed up! Been looking and calling everywhere (even HEB) but they finally came. The girls and I will be making multiple cases of cranberry sauce, cranberry jam, and cranberry habanero jam today since it’s too wet to work in the field. Event info coming soon!

If you’ve been following my page for a while, I’ve been wanting to go to the Heirloom Seed Exposition for years! It’s been in California for a long time, but this year was in Missouri AND P. Allen Smith was a speaker! I’d about die if I got to meet Mr. P. Allen, tour Baker Creek Farm (you know - that HUGE seed catalog you get every year with all the rare seeds?), meet all the staff in the catalog pictures, AND buy seed in person! I’d probably cry.
Even though this years exposition has come and gone, I still want to do this as a farm expense just for all these reasons. And in turn, bring delicious rare heirlooms to our customers. There’s such a big world of seeds and healthy produce; wonderful flavors produced in gardens and farms like ours that make delectable dishes on your table.
