Our spring calves were born and thriving. Our white faced cow had a scare at birth but our great vet was available and saved her. Having a good relationship w your vet is vital and we are thankful to Attica Vet. Now we are ready for green grass and move them to pasture in the coming weeks.

Water. The best investment we have made lately is installing a freeze proof waterer last fall. Our old one froze over below 20 and this one has no issues even at -13. Auto refill, insulated, water heater and the floats help seal it. Cows push the float down and drink. We love it.

Cows are handling the cold well. We increased their hay feeding as they eat more to produce more heat in the cold. Some nights they sleep in the barn and other nights they prefer the woods. Key is to keep them out of the wind. These bales weigh about 950 lbs and they love it. We move the feeders every time and they usually sleep in the previous spot.

Winter haven. Cows are all back together as they enjoyed the last of the grass last week. Prior to loading we put ear tags in our fall calves, shots and wellness for some cows as we transition to all hay. Will enjoy watching them out the back window and if you hear mooing in the Villiage it our herd being fussy.

We had 6 healthy calves born this fall in addition to those born in the spring. They are loving the weather, playing together and running around. It is also the start of pumpkin and corn stalk season which the cows love to eat.

Cows love to see what you are doing and line up to watch me mow our garden. We are mowing our fields after we rotate the cows through to keep the weeds down and allow the grasses to recovery at the same time. This wet May June has given us very lush pastures to date at all our locations.
