Our honey is locally owned and produced on private properties in Wayne County. All hives have access to wild acreage in rural townships. Currently we have 17 hives located in three townships. Four hives are in Berlin Township (Beach Lake area), four hives in Canaan Township (Waymart area), and nine hives are in Cherry Ridge Township (Honesdale/Lake Ariel area). We have spring/summer honey and fall
honey available for purchase. Please remember when bees are gathering nectar, honey flavors are different due to the nectar source. This also holds true to the coloring of the honey. Spring/summer honey has a lighter blonde color. Various tree blossoms, wild flowers, and clover nectar are predominate flavors in spring and summer honey. Fall honey has a much darker coloring and deep rich flavor. Golden rod and various fall flowering plants are predominate flavors of nectar. Our pricing for honey is similar to what others are asking in the area. Supply and demand varies from season to season. Currently we have the following available:
12 oz. of spring/summer honey $6
1 lb of fall honey $8
1 1/2 lb of fall honey $12
Yes, we do discount for buying in bulk. This fall we will have 2 and 3 lb bottles available. Did you know? The sale of honey by law is by weight. When honey is labeled by ounces or pounds, the volume is not the same as compared to many other products. For example, a 16 oz. bottle of water is physically bigger than 1 pound of honey. We all know there are 16 ounces to a pound. Honey is very dense. Raw honey is dried to a very low water/moisture content. (This is why honey doesn't spoil or go bad.) Because of this, dense sweet liquid weighs more and occupies less space. One pound of honey measured out equals 10.67 fluid ounces. A 12 ounce bottle of honey is equal to 8 ounces of water. That is considerably smaller that the average 16 ounce bottle of water. If you would like more conversions try this website:
