One of my favorite tomatoes this season: Sofia’s Sweet Caramel. This variety was bred by Sofia Saakova in Russia - she’s becoming known for developing interesting tomato varieties. Fruit is gigantic, photogenic, and almost entirely seedless - great for sauce and a lot bigger than a standard Roma! I kept the first one in my kitchen for a week and made all my visitors “just hold it for one second, isn’t it awesome??” 😂🤩❤️🍅

Even after sitting out uncovered in the heat for a week and a half at the Wayne County Fair, our prizewinning cauliflower and red cabbage were still good enough to eat! Roasted them in bacon fat along with an enormous Chioggia beet that had been waiting for the perfect moment. Delicious and colorful side dish for pork tenderloin on the grill🥇🎉🍽️

Pineapple squash: if Minions were a vegetable 😂 “In 1884, the Burpee’s catalog introduced the Pineapple squash with much excitement. Burpees hailed it as one of the most fine-grained squashes around, well suited to cooking as an immature summer squash or as a mature winter squash.” Really fun to make individual stuffed squashes with! 😍

Results are in from the Wayne County Fair 🎉 Very pleased to report a bunch of wins this year, plus a “best in show” for our majestic purple cauliflower! It’s so much fun to admire all the different veggies every year - congrats and high fives to everyone who entered, it’s a lot of work! 👏🙌🍾 All these veggies (and what feels like millions more 😅) are available for purchase from the farm - stop by the stand or text 617-595-1284 to place an advance order. Variety produce boxes + a dozen chicken or duck eggs = $35.
