As someone with animals, it's always great reading the weather advisory recommendations to stay indoors at all costs. Lol.

Weather channel: "Conditions will make commute difficult or impossible"

Farm translation: Your convenient 4x4's will not be able to hack these conditions, so you'll be dragging hay down the hill on sleds instead. Make do.

"Do not go outside unless absolutely necessary."

Farmer: Make plenty of extra trips outside today, as your animals will need more than usual care and attention. Take warm water out often, and plan to just be out there longer so you can "observe" how they are all coping.

"Wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin"

Farmer: You really can't do most of the things you need to do with gloves on your hands, so...just do your best out there and use your pockets when you can! Oh, and no teat spray after milking...use powder ;)

Happy to report that these two actually consumed some hay today! See that empty bucket? Maybe they are getting past their "morning sickness"....or maybe they just enjoy being able to make a big mess while eating their hay lol. Either way...glad that their bellies have something in them!!

Also, polar bears are on duty :) the sunshine and calm today was so lovely, you'd never know another arctic blast was en route.

These two πŸ˜’

This is me trying to offer a new and exciting way to eat hay to these FF mamas-to-be who have decided hay is no longer for them.

These two were by far my biggest, chunkiest, most well grown couple of babies, which I decided to breed lest they end up obese. They spent all of their time eating, anything and everything, and it showed, lol. But! No sooner were they confirmed bred that they changed their tune, and haven't eaten any hay since. Literally. They crush their morning grain, act as though they are starving, rush over when I try and cram more "new" hay into the already overstuffed feeder, and don't take so much as a bite. I'm grateful they had the reserves that they did, because this cold weather has been no joke. They've now used up all their extra "fluff" and I've added more beet shreds and alfalfa pellets to their breakfast, and added a dinner. It's not a hay problem, I don't believe, because does and bucks are all chowing, and I've offered probably 5 or 6 different options to these twerps. Anyone else ever see this and what did you do?? πŸ˜…

A little over a month to go, for Luna! She's starting to look the part. Feels so far away, but as cold as it still is, I'm not complaining. I've seen a number of "big singles" out of friends' does this year so far, so I'm curious what she does or does not have cooking in there πŸ˜„ any guesses?

This is her morning "empty belly"...lol.

Luna was bred to Homeward Bound LL Beauchamp for early March kids. Definitely retaining a doeling, should she grant us one! Last year she gave 3 lovely bucks...lovely, just NOT does πŸ˜… pink, my dear...pink this year, pretty please!

About a month away from baby season!! Bellies are growing, and baby cameras are up and running.

I have to say, I've been very grateful these last few days that my girls were slow to come into heat this last breeding season! I was feeling like I was behind the 8 ball, but thinking now, these girls had some kind of clue that I didn't πŸ˜…

❄️ Some winter morning thoughts ❄️

1. Carharts. I'm so incredibly grateful for my carhart, and continually amazed at how comfortably warm I can be in arctic conditions. I used to think that animals must be freezing all the time, but after getting the right gear, I've realized that this must be how God equips them. He has better technology than we do, no doubt.

2. Different animals are soooo different, and it is fascinating πŸ˜„ like Finn....what are you doing?? (See below). The goats are like no thank you. Even the cows are staying in their shelter today....but not the dogs. This is their jam.

3. Animal blankets. I've never blanketed my goats before, and I am extremely conservative even with the horses. Horses are rarely predictable and definitely unreliable when it comes to using their shelters lol...so occasionally I will throw sheets on them to keep them at least dry or out of the wind. But typically not. But this last week or two, I've been preparing for some intense cold, and decided to make some goat coats. I hate to see them shiver, and my little boys have been shivering here and there on the really cold nights. They are still small, always peeing on themselves, and their area tends to take the brunt of the weather. It's one thing to let them tough it out for a night or two, but this is looking like a good week or two of single digit nighttime temps. So, coats! They are so much happier, no shivering, and I slept a whole lot better last night πŸ₯° I am sure they will grow up and be fine, but for now, they are cozy, and I am happy!

Praying for all of those out working in the snow and ice today! And for the farmers and their animals who are and will be affected by this storm.

My sewing machine hasn't seen the light of day for about 15 years. But apart from some really strange noises and stitches, it came through for me in this week's random project πŸ˜„

This good old faithful carhart has served me well for probably 17 years...It makes me happy to see it with a new purpose! ❀️ thanks Savannah for being a guinea pig for me....albeit unwillingly lol.

Kind of feels like we went from late summer to late fall here in southeastern PA. Can't complain though, it's been such incredible weather here for quite a while now!

The field is looking rather barren, but the goats still have plenty of fallen leaves to wander around and munch on, as well as a few pumpkin treats :) the boys are so silly though lol. They just want to watch the girls eat their pumpkins...they don't care much about pumpkins πŸ˜„

Well, I haven't posted in a while, but this was a fun interruption today :) I had almost forgotten about the show altogether, due to the usual busyness, as well as the literal survival mode we've all been in over here in the last few weeks of intense heat!

Super proud of all the goaties today πŸ’™ ❀️ and as always, thankful for my mom, who is always ready at a moment's notice to come out and do back bends in 90 degree weather to take the perfect pictures for me πŸ₯° lol. It's NOT always simple πŸ˜… anyway, here are the results! Fun and worth the wait:)

Circle J Farm Epicurious *B

I really never thought I'd be listing this buddy...but HIS buddy will be leaving in the next week, as I keep a couple littles, so it just makes more sense this way.

Epic is a really big love, with lots of flash, lots of length, and the udders to back him up. His dam is reportedly a heavy producer with nice orifices and softness to her udder. Also shown below are his sire's dam and his full sister, who freshened with a beautiful and well attached udder this year as an FF πŸ’™

One thing to note is Epic's size. He is just over 32", at 3 years old. So, while he should be done growing now, he IS over mini height. For someone wanting to add height to their girls, or who is perhaps crossing with standards for some new f1 lines, he would be a great fit! I have used him on smaller girls with no issues.

He is an f4, and has sired 3 sets of buck/doe twins here. All 6 kids have had blue eyes, and beautiful toplines. Three of his 2025 kids are here on the farm, and can be seen below :) Feel free to PM any questions. He does have a couple of quirks...but who doesn't πŸ˜…πŸ˜‰ happy to share more with those interested.

Tested/clean herd in Honey Brook, PA.

πŸ’™ One Thousand Hills Shiloh Suave *B πŸ’™

Dam: Lil'BitOfHeaven GD Savannah Smiles 3*P
Sire: Frogtown Cedars Beau-Tye Affair *B

Shiloh has stuck around for the last year because I love him...but in reality I can hardly use him on my girls, with those I've retained. He was my preemie boy, who pulled through,
and was my personal shadow for a while last spring/summer. He is still a super chill guy. In fact, there is basically nothing that you can possibly come up with that will bother him enough for him to look interested for a 2 second v-show photo shoot, lol.

Shiloh has the nicest breed character of my boys, and the biggest barrel πŸ˜„ he really got some nice depth and width from his sire.

His dam is pictured below as a 3f (current). She has a snug udder, nice orifices, and a smoothly blended foreudder. She comes from lines with excellent longevity.

His sire's dam has a long list of achievements, among which are excellent, consistent production, and perfect hand milking teats :)

Feel free to ask any questions and I'm happy to send more pics or info.

Just in the last week these boys have started up their antics. Feels like that season just ended...but here we are again! Lol. Time to figure out who stays, who goes, and get some breeding plans in order :) πŸ₯°

How is breeding planning coming for everyone else? Am I the only one who wasn't at all prepared for bucks to start rutting πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
