Hey folks, Phil Lovin here! If you know me, you know I spend a lot of time outdoors with my wolf hybrid, Lucy. Exploring the Great Smoky Mountains every year with her has been an adventure, but as a dog parent, I’ve also learned a thing or two about keeping our four-legged friends healthy.
Dogs, just like us, can face some health issues that every pet parent should watch out for. Here are a few big ones:
✔ Ear Infections – If your pup is shaking their head a lot or scratching their ears, time to check for redness or an odor!
✔ Skin Allergies – Some dogs react to pollen, food, or even certain shampoos. Lucy had a mild reaction once—lesson learned!
✔ Obesity – Those extra treats add up. Keep them active and on a healthy diet (especially if they love exploring trails like Lucy).
✔ Dental Disease – Gum disease can sneak up on dogs. Regular brushing & vet check-ups are a must.
✔ Tick & Flea Problems – Especially if your pup loves the outdoors like mine, always check for unwanted hitchhikers after hikes.
