This orange beauty is a Passion Vine Butterfly. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen one and yes there was a passion vine nearby which is the only food source for the larvae. Not only are they found here in Hawaii but they are commonly seen in the southern US and into Latin America. This butterfly never landed so this picture was in flight which is why it’s a little blurry. Enjoy !

Rambutans are one of those scary tropical fruits that taste delicious ! A medium sized tree introduced from Southeast Asia to Hawaii, it is related to the similar tropical fruits lychee and longon. Its taste and texture is similar to a grape. We don’t grow them but we look forward to eating them in season. The flowers attract many insects and most importantly honey bees 🐝!

Our Story

We renamed our farm - Laughing Gecko Coffee Farm, although Facebook won’t let us change our name. lol We grow 500 coffee trees under large macadamia nut trees - shade grown and organically grown. We tend our own farm including picking the cherries and roasting the beans and everything in between. Our favorite coffee expert, Brian Spears ( tsftpc.com), describes our Medium Roast flavor notes : French to***co, macadamia nut, berry & plum, and sandalwood; and our Dark Roast flavor notes: caramel, macadamia nut, chocolate, Marion berry, fermented longon, granny smith apple.
