This turned out to be a much larger project than expected. Huge footings, massive columns, overbuilt substructure. But if mainly kids are on deck, gotta do it properly. Cost is about double what we were budgeting, so the top shade structure will be modified to accommodate what we can afford. We decided on 1,500 square feet versus the budgeted 1,200 square feet.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Waikele Elementary School 6th graders visited Kunia Country Farms to learn about commercial scale aquaponic farming. Ninety-five students with teachers and chaperones spent the morning learning about lettuce production, aquaculture, and composting.
