I just got off the phone with some random Maui lady who called me; I receive calls all the time, thanks to Siri and Alexa. I don't know why, but all I need is a couple minutes and they are telling me their entire life story. This lady called about her Medicare, but as I spoke to her I realized she had a lot on her plate.
She said she lives in Maui, suffers from bipolar disorder, a single mom of two daughters, no job, no money and just had surgery about a month ago.
She said her oldest daughter got pulled into s*x trafficking at 16 yrs old and though she was saved, has been held prisoner at The Hawaii State Hospital for many years; she is now 28 yrs old. This woman told me she's suing the hospital for keeping her daughter prisoner there and chained to a chair and brainwashing her to think she has no family and keeping her from them.
This woman was beside herself crying to me. I remained calm, sympathetic to her plight and then told her to call this non-profit s*x trafficking organization called, Ho'ola Na Pua that helps get victims of s*x trafficking rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. I told her I used to volunteer for the organization and that it had a great group of caring individuals there that could help her.
Then I told her to call me after she does that and when she has time, so she will be in a better state of mind and then I will help her apply for Medicaid/Quest since she has no money. This way, the state can cover her recent surgery and colonoscopy (since it was less than 3 months ago; Quest pays retroactively up to 3 months prior to application for medical bills). Mind you, I don't do Medicaid/Quest; this is ALL VOLUNTARY. I learned the entire Medicaid application process myself by helping countless people apply.
It is often confused with Medicare, which is what I am licensed and certified in.
First and foremost, I truly enjoy what I do and the fact that I am able to make an impact and help other people. Too often people exploit their skills, talents and abilities to help those in desperate need.
I understand we need to make a living and support ourselves; I get it. I am single mom; after all. However, I am blessed countless times because I am not driven by money, but by my need and desire to help others.
When people say, "You're so lucky!" Why do you think that is? You get back what you put into this world. If you are not receiving blessings, why is that? What are you doing to make a difference? Secondly, always express gratitude and give back.
A bonus is that when you have a grateful heart, you can always find the positive and when you can find the positive, you will be happy. Happiness is the best FREE ANTI-AGER! So, if I look youthful, it's because I am high on life and HAPPY!
