This is bad news.
Please learn about these invasive worms and contact your local Oregon State Extension office if you locate these “jumping worms”.

ODA's Entomologist, Josh Vlach joins a host of experts in a recent Oregon Field Guide episode meant to educate the public about jumping worms hiding in Oregon soil, threatening major ecosystem damage.

If you suspect you have found a jumping worm, please report it to the Oregon Invasives Species hotline

This is a reminder that the farm stand is closed at this time.
I’m happy to help try to connect you with local produce- watch for posts soon on this!!
The farm stand itself is still a work in progress- but I’m getting ready for you!! Scrubbing walls and fans, pressure washing shelving, repainting signage, etc.

Official opening date will be around July 17th when our first peaches roll in.
This could be a little sooner depending on Mother Nature.

Lulu 🐈 and I will be ready for you soon! 😘

What are summer days without cherries?!?!

These beauties were picked up from Mosier this weekend to share at a party!!! They were a hit! 💥

What was left we put in our fridge to keep chilled; I pull out a small cup worth to enjoy while mowing…bring a container to baseball games, enjoy while reading books….I think summer is better with a good supply of local cherries! ♥️🍒♥️🍒♥️🍒♥️

I know I am odd…I LOVE 60 degree days. I have been putting the petal to the metal trying to thin as much as I can while these cool temps last.

Still trying to get seeds in the ground also. I alternate my day- crouched in the garden hoeing or planting, then standing elongated and reaching for peaches to remove from the limbs. Helps keep my “balanced”.

Another part of staying balance is growing food but also taking the time to enjoy it…
Thankful I had dried cherry tomatoes from our garden and dried mushrooms from to toss with simple pasta shells- yep, I boil the noodles with the dried items, and tossed with pesto for a quick and DELICIOUS dinner.

Each night I try to out something on the drier…strawberry aroma is filling the kitchen now.

Now that it is dark outside- that’s when I get paperwork done. Sip of tea for me…one more item filed away or email responded to.

Enjoying the last of the noisy wind before the heat rolls in later this week. ☹️

Late spring days are hectic…but I can start to taste the deliciousness of summer….

Having food that keeps my energy sustained…is critical…as my to-do list grows with every day getting closer to summer.

With local cherries beginning to be harvested-keep in mind that cherries are a great item to enjoy fresh…and sooooo good dried. I am working on our last gallon size bag of dried cherries from last season.

🍒they are easy to mix into morning oats, offering an easy way to add antioxidants.

🍒 steel cut oats and cherries can offer sustained energy, works to lower cholesterol, and fights inflammation!! 🍒

I love that my food can work hard for me, while Inwork hard thinning, changing water, planting the garden, preserving what is fresh, in the evenings before the housework and organizing for the next day begins!!

More and more and more of Americans need help getting enough fiber into their diets. Farmers need help to keep producing food. I think there can be a win win situation here!

Let’s all think about how we can add one more healthy item to our day- your body and farmers will thank you!
