We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Cawley Middle School to Hip Peas Farm for one of our favorite annual traditions, a field trip we’ve proudly hosted for the past seven years.🌱

Students enjoyed a guided farm tour before getting their hands dirty planting wildflowers, chamomile, borage, sunflowers, squash, carrots, and pumpkins. They also enjoyed fresh fruit, vegetables, hummus, and lunch provided by our wonderful sister company New England's Tap House Grille with lunch served inside Oscar Barn Venue

This is an event we truly cherish. Teaching the next generation where their food comes from, the importance of agriculture, and the value of spending time outdoors is something we are passionate about. 🪴😊

Thank you, Cawley Middle School for continuing this tradition with us year after year. 🌱🚜💚 The future of agriculture starts with educating the next generation.

It’s truly special to see the community come together to give back to Mother Nature. Shoutout to the wonderful volunteers who dedicated their time to making our town a better place.🫶🏻
Thank you to Hooksett Kiwanis and many others for making this happen!
And shoutout to our wonderful Mike for keeping everyone fueled with some well deserved food! 👏

Sun Drying is the art of exposing things to direct sun light until they become brittle and dry out. Usually a minimum temp of 90 degrees is needed - which we have had plenty of this summer. We thought we would show some process pictures.

Pic 2. Red Ember Cayenne after 5 days in much cooler temps

Pic 3. Habanero after 4 days, also in cooler temps.

Some days on the farm are harder then others.
Then you get a day like today where the work pays off.

Our Vidalia onions will be ready soon, the creme brulee shallots came out wonderful, the edamame is nearing harvest and the artichokes are finally poking their heads out!

Fun fact. There is likely over 300,000 scoville units in this photo. Enjoy

Every year before covid David R. Cawley Middle School fifth graders used to come and visit the farm for a learning Hands-On farming experience. This year we had the privilege of Hosting them again. We had the opportunity to actually teach them about bees, planting, seating, harvesting, and a bit of weeding. This was all followed by a beautiful meal supplied by our sister company New England's Tap House Grille and finished by a improv football game, co****le, and just plain old having fun on the farm before they got back on the bus. What you see in this video is all of the personal cards they wrote to thank us for this day. Needless to say I was extremely moved. I always knew I could grow vegetables, but the way these words were written in these cards, I realize our little farm in Hooksett New Hampshire can make Young Minds grow and aspire to be better. I would like to thank personally the chaperones, teachers, administrators, and all of our staff for taking some time to make a difference for our community. David R. Cawley Middle School, YOU ROCK!. THANKS FOR ALL THE CARDS.
