Jane Jiang, owner and winemaker of Duncan Peak Vineyards, came to the United States from Chengdu at just 14 years old.

After studying Viticulture & Enology at UC Davis and working across Napa, Sonoma, Australia and beyond, Jane found her calling in wine. Today, she and her brother Max craft small-production wines from their organic estate vineyard in Mendocino, while also sourcing exceptional fruit from Napa Valley.

From a childhood in Chengdu to vineyards across California, Jane’s journey is rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the land.

Did you know how much goes into getting wine from grape to bottle? 🍇🍷

Growing and harvesting the grapes is only the beginning. There’s fermentation, aging, tasting, testing, blending, and eventually a pretty impressive bottling process where each bottle is filled, corked, labeled, and prepared to make its way to you.

Sure, this machine might handle a lot of the heavy lifting, but there’s still plenty of care and attention behind every bottle of Duncan Peak.

What happens if you harvest grapes too early? 🍇

As Jane explains, timing matters. Grapes harvested before they’re ready can have higher acidity, lower sugar levels, and flavors that haven’t had enough time to fully develop.

That’s why we’re constantly tasting, testing, and watching how the vineyard changes throughout the growing season. Every vintage is different, and these are the details we’re paying attention to season after season at Duncan Peak.

Great wine starts with knowing when the grapes are ready. 🍷

如果葡萄采收得太早，会发生什么呢？🍇

正如 Jane 所说，采收时机非常重要。过早采收的葡萄可能酸度较高、糖分较低，风味也还没有充分成熟和发展。
