The photo is typical of this early summer. Many wildflowers shriveled, grass is starting to become crisp, surrounded by a few survivors . My Grandparents called this honey suckle, just a quick taste of sweet on your tongue when taking a flower to your lips for the taste of summer.

8 years later, The first picture was taken up by the tree on the mountain overlooking the ranch. The tree has a pocket knife and a bottle of tequila buried under it. It’s our memorial for my brother Greg.
2018 is when my step dad Larry passed away. So began a transition in life- one that would lead my daughter Kylee to the live at the ranch and myself to make big moves towards moving home from Nebraska. A move that my Grandparents believed would be the their end goal.
Lots of twists and turns all leading me to reunite with Roger and delve into the world of Lavender and living in the area we both graduated from High school in the early 80’s.
I’ve tried my best to honor their belief and to live a good life with a great man as my partner and my sixth horse at my side.
Life is good !

The Melissa lavender is beginning to show color.

Melissa is an English Lavandula angustifolia known for its soft white blossoms brushed with pink. Every year it seems eager to get started, often being the first variety in our field to send up buds and the first one we harvest.

Right now, those tiny buds are a reminder of what is to come. In a few short weeks they’ll be ready to cut and dry. After curing, this beautiful lavender becomes part of many things we create here at Mountain Grace Lavender Ranch—from bouquets and culinary lavender to cosmetics and distilled products.

One of my favorite things about Melissa is its gentle fragrance and versatility. Whether tucked into a bouquet, infused into a recipe, or used in a handcrafted product, it brings a sweetness all its own.

After a dry spring and plenty of wind, seeing these first hints of color feels like a small victory and a promise of summer ahead.
