After great consideration, we have decided not to open the pumpkin patch at the farm this year. We just were not able to reconcile the considerable costs and work involved for our small little family farm. We are still here working and loving on all of the animals, but we will not be open to the public this year. On that note, we could not be more grateful for the support that we continue to receive from friends, neighbors (special shout out to Chris Bates, pictured here helping to care for our newest calf Opal, born this spring!), and the rest of the community.
We are sad to lose the opportunity to bring this experience to the area, but please join us in supporting other local places and events in the community! We are excited to get to attend City of Houghton Fall Fest on the pier (10/5 11-2) and Palosaari Corn Maze this year! We haven’t been able to attend either yet, since we had overlapping hours.🌽
Finally, please please please buy pumpkins and whatever other produce you can from our local farmers!! I know the less-than-$5 pumpkins piled high right in the front of Walmart can be tempting, but there are so many great alternatives that directly support our wonderful community. Show some love to Boersma Family Roots CSA and Farm and Whispering Wild Market Farm (Gina Kerr) or any other farmers you see at the market who are selling, or throw some cash in an honor-system can and grab your seasonal pumpkins and produce from a local roadside stand.🎃
Check Visit Keweenaw for their seasonal posting of other area activities, and enjoy this beautiful place we call home in all its autumn splendor!🍁
