Took a Leap Farm

Took a Leap Farm A small farm in northern Maine raising Nigerian goats, with an emphasis on dairy We are a small farm-in-progress located in the far northern reaches of Maine.

As of April 2011, we're officially goatherds -- we now have a wonderful group of eighteen goats and are planning to build a creamery early next year. When we "took the leap" and moved from the Chicago 'burbs to rural northern Maine in 2003, we planned to build a hobby farm focused on a small herd of dwarf Nigerian goats for dairying. But then life -- jobs, travel, and the like -- interceded. Now,

nearly eight years later, we've revisited this idea. Although we originally planned to take a measured approach to all of this, we're making yet another leap, jumping in with both feet, and still wondering how the herd has grown to eighteen!
