Shaking out a drone layer hive 🐝

This hive has a worker bee laying unfertilized eggs that result in drones only. There are multiple eggs in each cell when there should be one. Drone galore!

Shaking the bees out and letting them go into another hive gives them a better chance.

See how they go back to the spot where their hive was and then they have to sort it out with a nearby hive to let them in, like a meet and greet.

Happy to be at the Arnold Farmers Market tmrw from 8-12 noon! 😃 Booth # 39

Ill have lots of honey, soap, hot honey, elderberry syrup, lip balms, bug spray, face cream, facial oil, lotion, magnesium spray & balm, body butters, deodorant, simmery body oils, scrubs, soapy scrubs, body cream, and a bronzer loose mineral powder.

Oooh, and a new blush/bronzer beeswax rouge stick! It comes in a 3 oz cardboard container, no plastic!

Big lip balms in limited quantity until new containers come in, lots of flavors still available.

Back in stock body butter creams this week: Banana Coconut & Honey Volcano, also watermelon and strawberry. Lighter summer formula.

Swarmy hive has big vacation plans

They were so packed! Added a box to this strong hive and got rid of the swarm cells. Hopefully they’ll stick around.😎

Direct releasing an extra queen 🐝

We had an extra queen after combining two nuc hives, so we decided to introduce her into a queenless nuc. After culling any queen cells we found to improve the chances of acceptance, we released her and watched her walk right in 👑🐝

One week later, she’s laying beautifully in her new hive and the colony seems to have accepted her well. Glad this one worked out!

We don’t usually recommend direct releasing a queen this way since they may reject her more easily.

Strawberry Cream smelling soap with real banana, honey, and Himalayan rhubarb root infused oil🍓🍌🍯

The banana gives this soap its speckled look, while the rhubarb infused oils turn the bars a soft pink with tiny flecks. I love naturally colored cold process soap!

Things are pretty busy between the markets, beekeeping, and restocking products, but I’m excited to be back again this week at the Fenton & Arnold Farmers Markets!

And yes, it’s true, I put my faith in Jesus. He is my rock!

A lovely queen bee laying an egg 🐝

It’s not something you see every day, yet she can lay up to 2,000 eggs a day during peak season.

The queen bee briefly checks each cell with her head and antennae before laying a single egg inside. Her attendants surround, groom, and feed her as she moves across the comb.

She will likely lay over a million eggs in her lifetime.🤩
