We are seeing buds on the dutch & bearded iris, peonies, orlaya, snaps, painted daisies, anemones, ranunculus, columbine & more! Each field walk is a new surprise. Barring any damage from the frost/freeze in the forecast this week, we should be seeing lots of color soon!

Thank you to each and every one of you that made our winter tulip season an overwhelming success!

Probably one of my fav memories this tulip season? Remeber those weeks of snow, ice, & freezing wind? (Yuck)…Well it was bundling up to the max & hiking bouquets down to the main road to hand off. 💕

The fancy tulips are done, but hold your hat because the earliest of our whimsical spring blooms are getting ready to pop.

The flowers are blooming even if Mother Nature has thrown her head back, laughed & said "Hold my beer"...
After the roller coaster 85F->snow weather last week the stems on these Lenten Roses were frozen solid & I thought they were goners for sure. I can see why they are supposed to represent resilience and overcoming adversity! The salmon double fringe tulips? I think they are my fav so far this year.

🌷Fresh Flower Friday!!🌷 Some of our tulips headed out to Mecklenburg this week to decorate the 1st Taste of Virginia Farm-to-Table Dinner of the season. These events are held around the state to spotlight our hardworking farmers and producers while supporting Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom. We were honored to be asked. We interrupt your regular flower feed to bring you trees…

Wednesdays are my favorite day in the farm! We call them Family Farm Fun Field Days (We say that any which way we can get all of those Fs out of our mouth in case you are wondering!) We work together, laugh together, and make lots of memories together. And it sure beats planting by myself like I did today :/

3 years ago we did a large native tree planting in partnership with , and this year we are partnering with our Natural Resourse Conservation office on phase 2.

Trees sourced for the first 1/3 of of this native planting came from & . Until next Wed…

This week we have 2 colors of tulips blooming - fringed yellow & double red, plus we are seeing the first of the lenten roses...

All of the fancy pink & white tulips (the Valentine's Day colors) have finished for the season. These yellow & red ones will be done soon, then we will be rolling out one more main spring color :) Up next will be daffodils & dutch iris.
