And one VERY thankful heart! 🥹❤️

Today was a BIG production day here at The Wooden Spoon! And whew, what a day it was! From mixing dough before the sun came up to baking bread and making gallons upon gallons of homemade soup, my kitchen was BUSY!

But in the middle of all the flour, dishes, soup pots, and early morning hours, I kept thinking about how grateful I am for every single one of you.

Thank you to everyone who placed an order, shared a post, told a friend, or supported my little business in any way. You may think you're just ordering soup and bread, but you're helping support a family, a dream, and something I've poured so much love into.

I never want to get so busy doing this that I forget what a blessing it is to be able to do it. Every order means something to me, and I don't take your support for granted.

🍂 ELDERBERRY SYRUP — ROUND TWO! 🍂

October is here, which means it’s time for another small batch of The Wooden Spoon Elderberry Syrup! ❤️

Our last batch went quickly, and I wanted to share a sweet testimony one of our customers sent after using it:
“I have a big testimony for you for it. Karlee said the plague has hit Longwood lol. She said that like half the campus is sick in their dorms. Her roommate hasn’t been taking elderberry syrup and is sick. Her sweet-mates have been having it in their tea with Karlee and the 3 of them are not sick…pretty cool!”

I love hearing how families are incorporating this little bottle of goodness into their routines, especially this time of year!

Our elderberry syrup is made in small batches with elderberries, warming spices, and raw local honey, using ingredients we’re proud to put in our own family’s kitchen.

A Homeschool Life Skills Series at The Wooden Spoon

I’ve been dreaming up something new for my homeschool families, and before I officially open registration, I wanted to see if there is interest! ❤️

I want to create a monthly, hands-on life skills class where kids can come into the kitchen, get their hands messy, and learn skills they can actually use at home.

This won’t simply be a “baking class.” We’ll be learning how to:

🍞 Follow a recipe
⚖️ Measure ingredients
🧮 Use real-life math
🔥 Practice kitchen & oven safety
🥣 Learn basic cooking and baking techniques
🌾 Work with sourdough and other from-scratch foods
🍽️ Prepare food they can actually serve their families
🧼 Clean and care for their workspace
💪 Build confidence and independence in the kitchen

The goal? To help our kids become capable, confident little people who know how to feed themselves and contribute in the home. ❤️

And of course… we’re going to have FUN doing it!

Here’s what I have planned for the first six months:

🍕 OCTOBER — Pizza Day
Sourdough pizza from scratch + kitchen basics
October 30 | 10 AM–12 PM
And yes… they’ll leave with lunch!

🥨 NOVEMBER — Pretzel Day
Sourdough pretzels + shaping, boiling & baking

🥞 DECEMBER — Breakfast From Scratch
Sourdough pancakes + homemade butter

🍞 JANUARY — Bread for the Family
Sourdough sandwich bread + practical bread-making skills

🌮 FEBRUARY — Taco Night
Sourdough tortillas + building a meal from scratch

🍪 MARCH — Baking Basics
Sourdough discard cookies & crackers + baking science

Each class will be limited to just 8 kids so that everyone gets plenty of hands-on instruction and actually gets to participate.

I’m really excited about this little series and would LOVE to know if this is something your homeschool family would be interested in!

🍐🍂 A LITTLE TASTE OF FALL…

I’ve been wanting to create something a little different for this week’s special, and oh my goodness… I think we have a winner.

Introducing the Brown Butter Pear & Cardamom Cake✨

A tender brown butter cake filled with warm pear and cardamom, topped with a creamy vanilla frosting, caramelized pears, toasted pecans, and a generous drizzle of salted caramel.

It’s cozy. It’s rich. It’s buttery. It tastes like fall without being pumpkin everything🍐🍂
