Last week, the Today Show made it’s way to Texas and H-E-B had the privilege of hosting the Weslaco Venom Women’s Flag Football Team on the H-E-B Terrace at The Long Center for the Performing Arts.

As communities along the East Coast begin to rebuild after Hurricane Helene, H-E-B has mobilized to provide needed support to residents and nonprofits responding in hard-hit areas.

Inspired by our Spirit of Giving and Helping Here philosophies, H-E-B will make a $500,000 donation and send several truckloads of product to help with Feeding America’s disaster relief efforts. Along with the monetary donation, the truckloads of products will include shelf-stable food, water, baby items, and other essentials. Additionally, we also are working with our suppliers to provide further support.

Since this devastating storm began, H-E-B has been in close contact with area nonprofits and Feeding America to support their critical outreach. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with Feeding America and other area nonprofits there to help with additional needs as they arise.

In honor of America’s Independence Day, H-E-B is sending 1,000 Operation Appreciation care packages to active-duty service members serving our country away from home.

Over the last 3 days, H-E-B Partners, vendors, suppliers and nonprofits gathered for our annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions raising a record-breaking $16 million for Texas nonprofit organizations. H-E-B Tournament of Champions, a charitable trust affiliated with H-E-B, works with H-E-B suppliers to raise funds that support nonprofit organizations focused on the needs of children and families in Texas. This year's day of service hosted eight charity work sites to support Healy-Murphy Center, Roy Maas Youth Alternatives, SAMMinistries-Overcoming Homelessness, San Antonio Food Bank, Special Olympics Texas, Westside Family YMCA and Homes For Our Troops.

Today, as we observe Memorial Day, we honor and reflect on the courageous individuals of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. In partnership with Wear Blue, we joined forces to honor America’s fallen heroes and show support for families. Yesterday, over 500 H-E-B Partners paid their respects to fallen heroes at Houston National Cemetery, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, and Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In select stores, we will display Walls of Honor for our customers to honor their service, memory, and sacrifice.

We are forever grateful to our military heroes for their courage and immeasurable contributions to our nation.

Many thanks to the H-E-B Partners helping to support our communities recovering from recent severe storms that hit the Houston area leaving many Texans without power. Through our partnerships with the City of Houston, Harris County, Spring Branch ISD, and area nonprofits such as Spring Branch Boys & Girls Club, Spring Spirit, and CrowdSource Rescue, H-E-B quickly mobilized to provide ice, water and hot meals to some of the hardest hit areas.

Each year, H-E-B asks customers, Partners, and community members to nominate excellent educators: from teachers, to counselors, principals, districts, early childhood facilities and school boards in Texas. Since 2002, the program has awarded more than $13 million in cash and grants to Texas teachers and schools, and is the largest of its kind in the state of Texas and the nation. This year, we were pleased to award six teachers, two counselors, two principals, two school districts, one early childhood facility and a public school board with $480,000 in cash awards and grants.
