Best of the Midwest was a great show, great volunteers and excellent turnout! Thank you to the show committee, especially huge shout out to Shellie Gilberston and Kirsten Zoellner for all of their hard work in putting this show on.

Started with a huge youth show, Maya was 6/16 for showmanship, which she was excited about. Zoe’s class was so big it was cut and she made the cut this year and placed 8th. The Costume class was a highlight with Maya’s milk and Cookies entry and Zoe was a nurse with an injured goat. Cousin Daisy won as a Zombie Hunter!

I (Emily) just brought three Alpines, two yearlings and a 2 yr old, but they did well. Yearling Kara Kahl Jamon Aja was 1 x 1st, 2 x 2nd of 7. Assisi placed 2x 3rd, 1 x 4th. My two yr old Amberness was 2 x 1st and 1 x 3rd of 10. Just a few ring shots of Aja and Amberness to share. Both need to deepen out over the summer and I am excited to see how they look by August/September.

Summer will be pretty relaxed for the goats show wise with Nationals not in their future this year, so they can sit back and just mature and produce for the next couple months.

24 hours of clipping 7 goats due to crazy heat this week and cleaning the barn. Exhausted humans and happy goats.

Lost a good one yesterday. My second to last Akebono daughter, Akebella, and I saw so much potential for her as she matured. Thankfully she left us twin does we plan to retain and I have her son by Rochester collected but sure hurts when they don’t get to reach their full potential and you feel like you did all the things to try to save them. 💔

First show of the year is in the books! We took just 7 milkers, 4 Toggs and 3 alpines as we have a pretty young show string this year. Pleased with how they did, CH Roche Goats Tonks was Best of breed Togg in all 3 rings and BIS show in one ring. Two yr old Legendairy Chip’s Rhadio Star was 3 x GCH in all rings over 25 Toggs. Yearlings Taliesean was 1st of 8 in 3 rings, Rhose Quartz was 2 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd.

For the Alpines, yearling Kara Kahl Vic’s Assisi was 2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd of 6, 2 yr old Amberness was 2 x 2nd, 1x 3rd of 9, and 3 yr old Arula was 2nd, 3rd, and 5th of 8.

Only able to clip toggs and lots of ring shots with just me, Zoe and my mom this weekend.

After just one alpine doeling from the first 5 kiddings, Akebella gave me twin does by Arul a couple weeks ago. Fun colors reminding me of Akebono and my old favorite Aware ❤️

Thank you to the Alpines International Club for coordinating the All American program this year. Always a fun program to participate in. Pleased with how our does did! Congrats to Laura Warren Hughes on winning supreme All American doe and Ginger Hawkinson for winning Supreme All American buck with Early Rise Acres Side Hustle who she purchased from us last Spring. Great to see him doing so well!

Seven year old Amal enjoying the sun after finally making it to the other side of a very tough month of pregnancy, delivery of live triplets and post pregnancy with a retained placenta. Finally coming up in milk, getting her appetite back and a perky attitude. She remains a welcome face in the barn.
