πŸ“šπŸ‘ A GENTLE PEACH-BANANA SMOOTHIE πŸŒπŸ’›

When digestive illness changes your relationship with food, simple meals and drinks can sometimes feel less overwhelming.

Try this easy smoothie:

Ingredients:

πŸ‘ 1 cup frozen or fresh peaches
🍌 ½ ripe banana
πŸ₯› 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or another tolerated milk
🌿 A small pinch of cinnamon, optional
🧊 A few ice cubes, optional

Directions:

Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. Add more liquid if you prefer a thinner texture.

Every person with pancreatitis tolerates foods differently, so adjust ingredients according to your medical needs and personal tolerance.

Recipes like this were part of the inspiration behind my book:

πŸ“– Soulful Healing Cookbook: Cooking with Grace Through Chronic Pancreatitis

I created this cookbook from my own experience of learning how to return to the kitchen after chronic pancreatitis changed the way I ate.

My hope is that it helps someone feel less overwhelmed, less alone, and more hopeful about food again. πŸ’›

πŸ½οΈπŸ’œ EATING WITH CHRONIC PANCREATITIS CAN FEEL OVERWHELMING πŸ’œπŸ½οΈ

For someone living with chronic pancreatitis, choosing a meal may involve much more than deciding what tastes good.

They may also be thinking:

πŸ’œ Will this increase my pain?
πŸ’œ Will this trigger nausea?
πŸ’œ Can my body digest this?
πŸ’œ Will I be able to finish the meal?
πŸ’œ Will this cause symptoms later?
πŸ’œ Am I getting enough nutrients?

Some people may be advised to eat smaller, more frequent meals or take prescribed pancreatic enzymes with food. Individual needs can differ, so eating plans should be discussed with a healthcare provider or registered dietitian.

Please do not shame someone for eating differently, eating slowly, refusing certain foods, or bringing their own meal. They may simply be doing their best to protect their body.

πŸ’œβœ¨ β€œACUTE” DOES NOT MEAN β€œNOT SERIOUS” βœ¨πŸ’œ

Acute pancreatitis happens suddenly and may last for several days. Some cases improve with treatment, while severe cases can cause dangerous complications and require an extended hospital stay.

Treatment may include:

πŸ’œ IV fluids for dehydration
πŸ’œ Pain management
πŸ’œ Nutritional support
πŸ’œ Treatment for the underlying cause
πŸ’œ Procedures when blockages or fluid collections are present

Even after leaving the hospital, the body may need time to recover. Follow-up appointments and medical instructions are an important part of healing.

Please give people recovering from acute pancreatitis patience, compassion, and grace. They may still be healing even when they look okay.

πŸ’œ CHRONIC PANCREATITIS AFFECTS MORE THAN THE PAIN LEVEL πŸ’œ

The pancreas helps digest food and regulate blood sugar. When chronic inflammation causes lasting pancreatic damage, the effects may extend beyond abdominal pain.

Possible complications can include:

πŸ’œ Difficulty digesting food
πŸ’œ Poor absorption of nutrients
πŸ’œ Vitamin deficiencies
πŸ’œ Unintentional weight loss
πŸ’œ Greasy or foul-smelling stools
πŸ’œ Diabetes
πŸ’œ Ongoing fatigue and weakness

Some people experience severe or constant pain, while others may have little or no pain. A lower pain level does not always tell the complete story of what is happening inside the body.

Please listen without judging. Chronic pancreatitis can be complicated, exhausting, and different for every person.

πŸš¨πŸ’œ ACUTE PANCREATITIS IS NOT JUST A REGULAR STOMACHACHE πŸ’œπŸš¨

Acute pancreatitis is sudden inflammation of the pancreas. It can begin with upper-abdominal pain that starts suddenly or gradually and may spread into the back.

Other symptoms may include:

πŸ’œ Nausea or vomiting
πŸ’œ Fever
πŸ’œ A rapid heartbeat
πŸ’œ A swollen or tender abdomen
πŸ’œ Pain that lasts for several days

A person experiencing severe or worsening abdominal painβ€”especially with vomiting, fever, difficulty breathing, weakness, or yellowing of the skin or eyesβ€”should seek medical care promptly.

Never feel embarrassed about getting checked. Listening to your body could protect your health and your life.

This post is for awareness and does not replace medical advice.

πŸ’œπŸ™πŸΎ A PRAYER FOR EVERYONE SUFFERING FROM PANCREATITIS πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’œ

Heavenly Father,

Today, I lift up every person living with acute or chronic pancreatitis.

Touch those who are in pain right now. Comfort the ones who are nauseated, exhausted, frightened, discouraged, or struggling to eat. Strengthen those lying in hospital beds, waiting for answers, recovering from procedures, or trying to manage symptoms quietly at home.

Lord, guide their doctors and medical teams with wisdom. Help them recognize what each patient’s body needs, choose the right treatments, and listen with compassion.

Bring relief where the pain feels unbearable.

Restore strength where illness has caused weakness.

Provide nourishment where eating has become difficult.

Calm the minds of those who are afraid of the next flare, the next meal, or the next test result.

Please also strengthen their families and caregivers. Give them patience, understanding, and the ability to offer support without judgment.

Remind every person suffering that they are more than their diagnosis.

They are still worthy.

They are still loved.

They still have purpose.

Even during the days when healing feels slow, let them know they are not alone and have not been forgotten.

Cover them with Your peace, protection, and strengthβ€”one breath, one meal, and one day at a time.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen. πŸ’œ

πŸ’œβœ¨ CHRONIC PANCREATITIS IS MORE THAN ABDOMINAL PAIN βœ¨πŸ’œ

The pancreas produces enzymes that help the body digest food.

When chronic pancreatitis damages the pancreas, some people may develop problems producing enough digestive enzymes. This can lead to poor digestion and difficulty absorbing nutrients.

Possible signs may include:

πŸ’œ Loose, greasy or foul-smelling stools
πŸ’œ Diarrhea
πŸ’œ Bloating or excessive gas
πŸ’œ Unintentional weight loss
πŸ’œ Vitamin or nutrient deficiencies

A healthcare provider may prescribe pancreatic-enzyme replacement therapy or vitamins when medically appropriate.

These symptoms are not embarrassing, and they should not be ignored. They may be important clues about how well the pancreas is functioning.

πŸš¨πŸ’œ ACUTE PANCREATITIS FACT OF THE DAY πŸ’œπŸš¨

Did you know acute pancreatitis can range from mild to severe?

Some people with a mild case may improve within several days with proper treatment. More severe cases may require a longer hospital stay and additional procedures to manage complications.

Treatment may include:

πŸ’œ Fluids for dehydration
πŸ’œ Pain management
πŸ’œ Nutritional support
πŸ’œ Treatment of infection when present
πŸ’œ Procedures to remove blockages or drain fluid collections

Acute pancreatitis is not something to diagnose or treat at home.

Severe or worsening abdominal painβ€”especially with vomiting, fever, breathing problems, a rapid heartbeat, or jaundiceβ€”needs prompt medical attention.

πŸ’›πŸ“š CREATED FROM MY PAINβ€”WRITTEN WITH PURPOSE πŸ“šπŸ’›

When I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, food suddenly became confusing.

I found plenty of information telling me what to avoid, but I struggled to find the comforting meal ideas I needed while adjusting to my new reality.

So I began researching.

I began experimenting.

I began writing down the meals and ideas that helped me find my way back into the kitchen.

That journey became:

Soulful Healing Cookbook: Cooking with Grace Through Chronic Pancreatitis

This cookbook was created from my personal experience, but its purpose reaches beyond me. It is for the person who feels overwhelmed by food, discouraged by a diagnosis, or tired of believing that changing how they eat means losing every bit of comfort and joy.

Every purchase supports an independent author, a single mother, and a woman who decided that her pain would not be wasted.

My prayer is that this cookbook reaches the person who needs the recipes, encouragement and reminder that they are not walking this journey alone.

πŸ’›βœ¨ CHRONIC PANCREATITIS FACT OF THE DAY βœ¨πŸ’›

Did you know having less pain does not always mean chronic pancreatitis is improving?

Some people experience constant or recurring upper-abdominal pain that may spread into the back or become worse after eating.

However, as chronic pancreatitis progresses, the pain may sometimes decrease or disappearβ€”even though the pancreas has experienced lasting damage.

This is one reason chronic pancreatitis should be monitored based on more than pain alone.

Pay attention to other changes such as:

πŸ’› Unexplained weight loss
πŸ’› Diarrhea
πŸ’› Greasy or foul-smelling stools
πŸ’› Difficulty digesting food
πŸ’› Changes in blood sugar

Always discuss new or changing symptoms with your healthcare provider.
