A homeowner in Katy came to us after their tankless water heater kept throwing error codes, no matter how many times a technician reset it.

The actual issue was scale buildup inside the unit's heat exchanger, caused by hard water minerals accumulating over time. Tankless water heaters are especially sensitive to this because of their narrow internal components. Once we tested the water and installed a softening system, the error codes stopped completely.

Mineral deposits from hard water create rough, textured buildup on tile, grout, and shower doors. That texture gives mold and mildew something to grip, and, combined with Houston's humidity, it spreads faster than in drier climates.
