The meaning of this cookoff team is to bring family and great friends together to enjoy thisevent together and raise money for our community. We started doing cookoffs 10 years ago, when southbelt cookoff was first starting out. We had a few pop up tents, old smokey , a dj and a few friends. now this has growned to us having 40+ team members and our own band,large tent, and the biggest crowd!! We
welcome all our friends and family to come share this special event with us every year!and to many more cookoffs to come, bigger and better!

Evening. I want to suggest that you double check your vehicle and homeowners policies to ensure that you are covered if you have wind or water damage from Tropical Storm Lara which is expected to possibly land in or near The Houston/Galveston area and Southern Louisiana. I can tell from today's experience that many insurance carriers are no longer writing insurance policies in our area and if they do they are rating more expensive than usual. In some cases you will not be allowed to make changes to an existing policy or add coverages. A Flood Insurance Policy can take 30 days to bind and by the time we have a major storm in the Gulf of Mexico it is too late to add that coverage. I cannot stress enough the importance of listening to credible experts and not the guy behind you at 7-11 Please bear in mind that these storms can change direction. My name is Mike. I am a member of The Outta Control Cookers. I own an insurance and tax agency. I wanted to share some information about the upcoming CARES Act that I think will affect you. The stimulus checks for qualified families is one thing that I think most of you will be receiving based on the tax work I do in this area. Here are some things I think that you need to know.
1. If your AGI is less than $75,000 a year as a single person or $150,000 a year as a married couple expect to receive up to $1200 per tax payer and $500 for dependents. It phases out totally if your AGI is over 99k as a single person or 198K as a married couple. AGI is not the same as your total income. You can find your AGI on your 1040.
2. The stimulus will be mailed to you if the IRS does not have your direct deposit information on file. If you moved since you last file taxes I am going to suggest that you send the IRS a change of address form.
3. The IRS is using your 2018 or 2019 income tax to decide if you receive a stimulus check and how much. If you have not filed your income tax in a few years I would suggest you do so now to avoid stimulus delays.
4. There is more to The CARES bill than just the stimulus checks. There are increased benefits for unemployment, special income tax consideration for business owners, low interest and forgiveable loans for small business owners and subcontractors. and relief of penalties from early 401K withdrawals.

Lara Maffei helped me out in a major way at my company when i was having staffing issues during our busy season when she came on as my personal assistant.. Her and her husband are Dobie grads and have been living in Sagemont for decades. Her husband Phillip, is currently fighting for his life after his heart began to operate at twenty percent of its capability. Their family is having to choose bwtween installing a heart pump or to do a heart transplant. These are extraordinarily expensive procedures. We are talking about several hundred thousand dollars of money as a deposit. They have no healthcare They have started a Go Fund Me page to raise money.
