With their wedding as their primary goal, John and Yael showed remarkable consistency to their meal plans. Although each of their body chemistry metabolizes fuel differently, and therefore resulted in two different approaches to eating, they were able to dial it in together. Both Yael and John lost significant body fat while gaining strength. Additionally, both have been back for their follow-up and have maintained their body composition after their wedding and honeymoon! We strive for realistic ways of fueling that result in long lasting changes, and we couldn’t be prouder. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Last week Michael Florida’s Life Nutrition celebrated its 10 year anniversary! We are immensely grateful for all our clients who have continued to trust us in fueling their varied needs. We are especially grateful to the large handful of clients who have been with us for all 10 years. Our “blue file” clients have become family to us.

In the last 10 years of being the business owner, this year means the most to Michael. He gets to celebrate this huge accomplishment with his son, James (5 months).

We thank everyone who has worked with us over the years, and we cannot wait to hear more funny stories, achieve more milestones, and watch more transformations in the next 10 years!

For some we want to put the spotlight on Roxanne. She came to us about 2.5 years ago, frustrated with her inability to lean out through menopause. She felt stuck for a number of years and looked to us for guidance. We were able to find the right balance of fuel and workout to navigate her age and hormonal changes. Roxanne achieved her personal goals in less than a year of working with us, and has maintained her weight loss ever since with regular check-ins. Roxanne is a new grandma and is in phenomenal shape to start chasing her grandchild around. Roxanne has been a great client, and we’re extremely proud of her!

Here at MFLN, our team has the tools to help navigate clients with autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, diabetes, food allergies, pregnancy, postpartum/breastfeeding, and so much more. Pictured here with Nicole is her client Lisseth from May 2021, a few days before Nicole left for maternity leave. Lisseth’s goal during her pregnancy was to make quality food choices to help keep her feeling energized and strong while continuing to stay active throughout all three trimesters. Pedro, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and Gracie Barra studio owner, came to Life Nutrition a year ago to take his training to the next level. He was seeking help to appropriately fuel himself during his training sessions, optimize his weight to strength ratio, while lowering his body fat. In one year, the scale reflects a 20 pound loss. However, Pedro has made incredible changes to his composition. He has lost over 30 pounds of fat, and gained 10 pounds of lean mass. Pedro has worked hard over the last 12 months, and continues to get better!

Nerissa is a client that started her wellness journey at this time last year. From Oct 2020 to the New Year she lost her first 6 pounds on the scale. She didn’t wait until 2021 to start working towards her goals, and has since cut her body fat in half the subsequent months. Nerissa has an awesome balance of both low and high intensity training, and has increased her performance while recovering better. We have 10 weeks until the end of the year. As we head into the holidays, we thought it would be fun to showcase a few of our client’s progress over the next couple of weeks to help keep everyone motivated.

Melina is a client who has been with us for 6 years. She has had many goals over the years, and a few years ago decided to compete in a bikini competition. Since the competition, a big accomplishment has been her ability to maintain a lean composition year round with little fluctuations. She trains hard, is consistent with the meal plans written for her, and provides our office with a lot of laughs. She has truly been a one of a kind client!

The past and upcoming weeks for MFLN have been big ones! Firstly, we are excited to congratulate Nashley on achieving her Masters Degree in Nutrition earlier this month. Secondly, we will be without Nicole over the summer as she starts her maternity leave on Monday. Lastly, we celebrate MFLN’s 9th anniversary in the upcoming days. Help us welcome our new front desk hire, Madison, to MFLN! Madison is a native Houstonian who received her Bachelor's in Nutrition Science at the University of Houston. During her undergraduate years she worked in research promoting health and fitness with high-risk adolescents. Taylor Moore has been working hard as our client for the last 1.5 years, and has totally transformed his body composition at 58 years of age. He has cut his body fat percentage down over half, has come down 25 scale pounds, and maintains his meal plan while on the go. Taylor works outside on multiple landscaping projects, and prioritizes planning and packing his meals ahead of time. By planning ahead and staying consistent, he has achieved the goal he set for himself December of 2019!

We started to see the Ng sisters at the end of summer in 2019. Each sister had her own goal. Gail (first pictures) was looking to lose weight, while May (second pictures) was searching more for a composition change. They have each fueled consistently and exercised through the many hardships of 2020 thus far. Over the last year, Gail has lost 15 pounds and cut her body fat in half. May has greatly increased her lean mass and lowered her fat pounds for a leaner frame at 10% less body fat overall! The most exciting part for Gail and May is recently entering a maintenance phase. They check in with us less frequently now, to continue collecting the tools to maintain what they have worked hard to achieve over the last year. They both claim it’s been fun to go through this journey with one another!

The average American gains between 6-9 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. If we stretch that from Halloween to New Years, it’s a span of 9 weeks. In just October, Michael and Nicole started working with 48 new clients each with his or her own goals. In the first 14-21 days, their clients have lost 3-10 pounds of FAT! The combination of mealtime guidance and accountability breeds the discipline that keeps them from gaining those 6-9 holiday pounds, progressing towards their goals! They did the work, and we want to encourage them to continue!!

When Jen and Rob Walker started seeing us at the end of May, they were highly under-eating and overtraining. This method was incredibly taxing on their bodies and not giving them the weight loss they wanted. By following a plan of quality foods in appropriate quantities, they have been rewarded with the type of success they were originally suffering for. Both have changed their body compositions immensely, and are now eating more than double the food throughout the day. At MFLN, we will continue to advocate that the body is not as simple as calories in and calories out, and Jen and Rob are great examples of the changes that happen when you fuel correctly for your lifestyle!

Sisters, Alejandra and Luisa, shared a silver lining from their COVID pandemic experience. They've been able to eat more home cooked meals; at the right times, in the right amounts, and in the right combinations.
For Alejandra, this led to achieving her goal of a 25 pound weight loss! This is an incredible accomplishment, even more so given the high levels of stress we’ve all been experiencing!

Many situations in life present you with the opportunity to decide how you want to handle change. We are proud of Alejandra and Luisa for seizing the chance to take advantage of a positive change they could make, and keeping focused on the goals they set for themselves!

Earlier this month, MFLN celebrated its 8th anniversary. Although year 7 & 8 have come with many unforeseen obstacles and heart break, we are blessed to have a driven, supportive, and understanding community as clients and friends. Although starting her journey with us the first week of December, Rosemary has taken her MFLN meal plan and her training program from , and has highly committed herself to them during the quarantine. To Rosemary, she finds this time with less socializing and travel to be a bit easier to focus on the goals she set late last year, and feels now more than ever is the time to prioritize health and wellness. We agree with Rosemary that now is the time to place importance on quality food & beverages, quality exercise, and quality sleep. Hey guys! With all the chaos going on right now around the coronavirus, I want to take a second to make some suggestions on what you can do to potentially help your body fight off a virus like COVID-19, which is highly contagious.
1️⃣Vitamin D3 - increasing D3 levels in your bloodstream helps make your immune system more adaptive in fighting off viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections. 2000 to 5000 iu’s taken at the beginning of your day can help.
2️⃣Magnesium - taken before bed can help increase your deep sleep to better facilitate recovery throughout the night. A recovered body is a strong body.
3️⃣B-Complex - These help recover your nervous system. The drastic changes in people’s schedules and routines right now can be extremely stressful on your body. Taking B vitamins with your mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks may increase the chances of your body navigating these stressful times much more effectively.
4️⃣Aerobic Exercise - low intensity, long duration exercise will do numerous things. It’s an anti inflammatory energy system which helps hyper oxygenate tissue to flush toxins out of the body. It also helps your body burn fat more efficiently to help manage your blood sugar levels. This can help drive off those cravings for sweets during times like these. 30-60min of Aerobic exercise per day like walking, biking, jogging, rowing, and swimming can help make a healthier, leaner, less stressed you.
5️⃣Water - the human body can be composed of 45-75% water, so staying hydrated through this will help manage your immune system, blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood toxicity levels. Strive to drink 50% of your body weight in fluid ounces of water throughout your day.

In specific, biochemistry, energy system development, circadian rhythm, genetics and macro/micronutrient usage and uptake. We would love to say that knowledge is power, however knowledge is useless without the application. We feel the link between your knowledge and application is your mental state. Over the last 8 months, has not only transformed her body, but also her mind. Melisa’s tenacity and grit are a few of her qualities that are allowing her to conquer the symbiotic relationship between mind and body. During this tough holiday season, we thought we would showcase to provide some extra motivation. Crystal has been a client of Michael’s for 9 years. She is a dedicated RN with two children, and has worked with Michael through both her pregnancies. Crystal has especially worked hard this last year to achieve her personal goals, and has been proud to dispel the notion that your body can’t be the same, or in Crystal’s case, stronger and leaner, after children. So I am not a big pizza fan primarily because it doesn’t contain enough protein for what Michael Florida's Life Nutrition would like me to eat based on my activity level at CrossFit Katy. I try to pile on meat only to find my crust not be able to handle the load. But WAIT!! This pizza sauce is made with pea protein and contains 16 grams of protein per serving!!!
