A couple of days ago the deep freezer at the house somehow got turned off. Thankfully we were able to save everything, with the exception of a pizza and some frozen vegetables. Unfortunately, to save the stuff that was starting to defrost it has to be cooked immediately.
I ended up cooking 4 pork loins, 2 sausage links, 5 lbs of ground beef, 2 chuck roasts (one cooked whole and the other cubed and cooked Asian style), 3 lbs of bacon (thankfully my roomie handled that and rendered all the fat), and breaking down and cubing 4 bone in pork shoulders.
After breaking down the pork shoulders there was so much fat and 4 big bones. I didn't want to waste all of that. I spent two days cooking it all down into a nutrient dense pork bone broth and pork tallow. The bacon fat and pork tallow will both be used for cooking. I can't wait to use this for soups.
