More BBQ Pit Scammers out there on all social media. A guy from Florida just called me and asked me if we use another business name other than Gator Pit. I told him American Pit Crafters was the only other name associated with Gator Pit. And, then my questions: WHY? You find a Scammer on social media? He said, "YES." TicToc. Said it was under Barbecue Smokers and Grills for Sale. Yep, that is the one, I said. They are all over Facebook, Instagram, etc. Scammer was tracked back to Central Africa. Some of you that follow me, may recall me mentioning this about a year ago. They change their name about every three months, use actual true Pit manufactures names, photos, etc, have a false address, etc. Their scam. Put a deposit down with Zelle or Venmo. They require that Payment before you can actually go see their "place of business," or pick up your cooker you just placed a cash deposit on that you will never see. How do I know their process? Ben, my son, acted like he was interested in purchasing a Gator Pit on their FB page. More to this than telling you here, but you get the point. They are taking cash money, so to speak on deposits, and you are screwed. It is some POS of s**t in Africa running the scam. FB, Instagram says this does not violate their guidelines. I know. I have and others have reported them over and over and over. And, that is the response every time. Luckily, this guy called me to verify or confirm before he placed a deposit down. Now, it must have been a deal to good to be true, because he never ordered directly thru me at that time. LOL Probably some 10K cooker for 1K.
