Charity Barriere Muhammad is a cultural storyteller, creative strategist, educator, and the visionary behind Gumbo for the Soul โ a platform blending ancestry, advocacy, and art. A proud Creole-Gullah Geechee woman, author, chef, and speaker, she weaves legacy and lived experience into every project, bridging generational wisdom with present-day truth. Charity is the founder of Planting Pure Seeds Academy, a nonprofit supporting homeschoolers and their parents through culturally grounded education, empowerment, and community.
She is also co-host of the podcast Conversations With My Father, where she explores reconnection, healing, and history with her biological father, Joseph McGill Jr., founder of the Slave Dwelling Project. Through her books, creative media, and community-centered initiatives, Charity uplifts untold narratives and celebrates the beauty of Black identity, family, and faith. A proud mother of two sons, Natur'EL Mystic and Zakir Joseph, she continues to inspire others to honor their roots, reclaim their voices, and heal out loud.
