Dreaming of a pollinator garden? Me too!
Did you know that not all Echinacea (and many other plants) are equal for pollinators?
I love the new colors of flowers, orange and blue are my jam! But just because I like them, doesn't mean the pollinators do.
Native plants and wildflowers are THE colors that attract pollinators to them. The shape of the petals, leaves, stems, and cushions are all THE shape for the pollinators of those plants.
What does this mean? This simply means that when you are planting the hybrid doubles or bright pink petals, or black flowers, even if it is a "pollinator-friendly" plant, you won't get the same amount of pollinators. The plants aren't necessarily bad; they just aren't doing the job you expected them to do.
Tip of the day. If you want a true pollinator garden, plant natives! Natives always win, that's what Mother Nature intended.
Looking to plant a pollinator garden this year and are lost? Did you plant a pollinator garden, but you're just not getting pollinators??
