The countdown to Thanksgiving is on!

We have a few turkeys left to be claimed. They will be processed on Tuesday, and available for pickup Tuesday evening.

Turkeys are $4/lb again this year, and the remaining ones will be on the bigger side. They will likely 18-20lbs+. However, since they are still roaming around the poultry yard, I won’t know exact weights until we get them back from the processor Tuesday evening.

Located in the Howell area, we will also be doing a turkey meet up Tuesday night in Westland.

Let us know if you have any questions!

It’s turkey time!

We have a few turkeys left for preorder. We are picking them up from the processor on the evening of Tuesday 11/25- that’s just 2 days before Thanksgiving! We are doing $4/lb, the same as last year. The plan is to meet some folks right after we pick up the turkeys in Howell, and then a second meet up in Westland that night. Having our appointment this close to Thanksgiving makes timing tight, but they will also be the freshest birds we’ve ever had too! ❤️

It’s been a hectic year!

Realized I haven’t been posting anything, so here’s a farm photo dump of the last few months.

I had knee surgery in the spring, so that added some challenges to the year.

We redid the entire garden, adding in raised beds instead of a big plot. Grew some cool veggies (love the purple potatoes!), and got a general feel for the new layout. Plans for a huge flower garden were thwarted by my knee, but some bird dropped sunflower seeds sprouted and the perennials I already had planted were gorgeous!

Lily had a beautiful calf we named Linkin. Kate went to go live with another herd, and we brought home Kiwi the mutt cow. She’s all black and a Highland x Dexter / Angus x Limousine cross, potentially bred to a Highland x Belted Galloway bull. Springtime baby watch should be interesting! Red went on a summertime date at a farm down the road, and REFUSED to get in the trailer to come home. After 2 hours of coaxing and a 5 minute drive home, it took him a whole 5 seconds to walk off. This week the crew decided to learn to open gates, and explore the overgrown garden 😆

We filled our freezers. So incredibly thankful for our animals, and the folks that helped us out on those rough days. Processing day is always hard, but good people and overwhelming respect for the animals we’ve raised since babies helps.

Excited for everything to slow down, so we can intentionally focus on family and the farm. And more presence in the things that matter.

Kate is looking for a new pasture. Highland/Hereford cross, born 5/27/2024. Reach out for questions!PENDING

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!

Very thankful for the homegrown and homemade goodies on the table, especially the turkey! The biggest bird this year came in at almost 28lbs, and it turned out perfect!

Very thankful for family, the farm, and all the usuals… but extra thankful for that guy at the head of the table. A few months back we found out he had a brain tumor. We didn’t know what the future for him and our family would be. Since then, he’s successfully had it removed, it was confirmed to be benign, and his recovery has gone really well. It’s pretty amazing things have mostly returned to normal around here, and for that I am extremely grateful!

Out of the 22 years we’ve been together, this has by far been the hardest. But here we are, enjoying another Thanksgiving showcasing the farm and spending time with family. ❤️

This year is flying by!! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we were able to sell all our turkeys this year to repeat customers, and through word of mouth without ever posting any available. You guys are incredible! Thank you so much!! We’ve had quite a dramatic year, and having turkey sales just fall into place has been such a relief. We’re hoping for a more normal year next year, in which case we will have more turkeys available.

Reminder to everyone on the preorder list- the great turkey exchange will happen the evening of Wed 11/20 after we pick them up from the processor. We’ll be in contact with time/location soon.

We have pork available!

This year has been crazy, so I apologize for the lack of updates. We just got the call that our last pigs have a spot at the processor tomorrow. We are selling by the half or whole pig.

At this point, I just have one half left! This year pork is $3.25/lb hanging weight, plus the cost of processing. Expecting a half pig to come in at about $450, but that will depend on actual weights.

Cut sheets will have to be called in tomorrow, and pork pickup would be at the farm in about a week, depending on when everything gets packaged up at the butcher.
